I guess they do not take off points for styling. The Clio is butt ugly.

While this might be an interesting comparison for folks abroad, it's completely useless for us here in the US for two reasons-
1) We can't get a Clio RS 2) The GT-86 as tested is less capable than the FR-S.

I should know, I had the first one sold in the country! As for the article well, as someone said earlier controversy sells magazines. Besides out here, the average 'enthusiast' car sports at least 300+ bhp, so it's hard for journalists to get used to anything less. |

IIRC, the base GT auto does not have the LSD, but the base GT manual does.

the end of the article is hilarous because the author writes that this dude Phil McGovern basically tells them "you dont get it" --- and from browsing the forums it seems like some people "dont get it" either

Most amusing part of the article is how after approximately six paragraphs of slating the car, they ask to have it as a long termer! Talk about tongue in concrete cheek... If you're curious to know what it's like buying a car in the UAE, I wrote a pretty detailed diary on buying my car. |

I'm actually in the same situation you were in. I drove a FR-S AT (TRD springs, exhaust, etc.) at a First Drive event, but haven't driven a stock MT yet. I hope I'm as happy with my purchase as you seem to be with your's. :happy0180: |

I'm pretty sure it has more roll because it's on 16-inch wheels with thick sidewalls. Again, not an ideal/fair/complete comparison IMO. Apparently, they are bound and determined to not give it an accurate comparison with the Clio. But even if they said the same about the top GT86 model with the 17-inch wheels, it doesn't matter because 1) the Clio isn't sold in the US, 2) the Clio is FWD and can't drift, and 3) the Clio is ugly.

Thanks. I swear when I tried it, LSD only showed up under Mid AT (and under the Interior for some reason)!!
EDIT: Proof!! Haha, their website must have some errors... Last edited by DarkSunrise; 07-20-2012 at 05:29 PM. |
