I hit a big puddle a couple of weeks back and now have a heat shield rattle at 2,000 rpms so at 110,000 miles my car is now ruined.

For sale:
2014 Lava FRS
At least 80% of the original paint is still OK.
Various nicks, ticks and cricks in body panels.
New TOB and all clutch related parts.
Engine still sounds like a Russian farm tractor so is perfect.
Tranny shifts fine regardless of temperature even on stock oil.
If there are any oil leaks it isn't burning or making a puddle so that is fine.
Engine bay, engine and all components under the hood are a nice custom grey colour since nothing has been cleaned in all those miles (This will cost extra as it is a rarely seen mod)
Crickets seem to have died from natural causes two years ago. Or at least they never visit anymore. Not even on my birthday or Fathers day. You would think they could at least call or send a card.
Newer tires since those cheap Prius ones wore out in only 3 years.
Trunk lid has developed the most amazing squeal when opened that I have no doubt it has been possessed by banshees.

$38,000 or best offer. Will trade for 1998 Dodge Caravan so I can pass people on the highway.

One my all-time favorite comments on this board was the first response in this thread:

I would have been well over that but last year my travel to the different plants was cut in half so I saved a pile over what I had originally planned on.

I should be up to 115-120K miles, but my company cut my mileage limit in half for two years and made me drive rental cars instead. I'm back up to 30K per year again now, though, so I'll catch you all quickly enough.

143k mile update.

I think my swaybar bushings are shot. Im guessing there shouldnt be a 1" gap between bushing and bar

Also, my used o2 sensor died after around 100k total miles (40k from me, 60k prior owner). So now on 3rd primary o2. Have yet to replace the downstream but might soon as a preventative step since my fuel trims still arent perfect

Mine's doing fine. Only problem I've had is a blown engine at 65K miles with an exploded oil pump gear, a couple of spun bearings and a wrecked head.

Meh minor maintenance items.

Did you ever find anybody else that had the pump gear failure? As far as I can recall that is a one off failure mode reported on here.

There was one other guy who posted the exact same thing on the board, but he had a race build with a modified engine. I'm too lazy to look it up. Mine's stock, and I was just accelerating away from a red light when it went. I think it was just a freak failure.

On the other hand, we can't be sure it hasn't happened to anyone else, because other people have reported spun bearings on this board. I didn't take the thing apart myself and wouldn't have snapped the pic if they hadn't shown me the oil pump gear. The mechanic at the dealership could have easily just diagnosed it as spun bearings vaguely due to oil starvation and never told me about the oil pump at all. Therefore, I can't help but wonder how many of the other spun bearings posted here were actually caused by shattered oil pumps, and we just never heard about it.

Even so, grenading engines still seems to be a relatively rare occurrence, regardless of the cause. I still have plenty of confidence in the car and the replacement motor, and I'd still buy one of these again if I had it to do over.
