Exactly. The height and mass of that front hood is my least favorite thing about the Supra visually.

One work-around I've seen is a dark-colored hood (e.g., carbon-fiber) that hides the bulk.

It's an optical illusion, but effective.

BTW I've been following the youtube channel of Jackie Ding doing time attack with his Supra and it is wickedly quick in the right hands with a few mods. He was at 1:50 at Buttonwillow CW13 with a tune, coilovers, tires, aero, pads, and weight reduction.

If the new Toyobaru has +50hp/+100torque, a better AT, and just a bit more sound insulation, I'll never even glance in the Supra's direction. I'd gladly pay $5K more for a slightly better BRZ, and it would do 90% of the Supra (and even have a lot more room inside) for 60% of the price.

If it jams, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacing, anyway.

When I finally see one I’ll see what I think. I don’t think the Supra would ever be described as beautiful though. Purposeful, maybe, but it sure isn’t a Ferrari, or even just as classically clean looking as a 370Z, or as wide and impressive as an LC 500. The Supra’s fake vents annoy me, too, they should have stuck with functional only.

Yes I think the design of the Supra was compromised some due to the Z4 chassis. It seems like it’s meant to be a longer car (the Supra). The Z4 has always been a little stubby looking. I do think it’s beautiful in an athletic way, not like supermodel beautiful.
I don’t think we will ever see a beautiful design like the FD RX-7 again, it’s not what sells. That also makes me appreciate the Twins even more. They are good looking cars from all angles.
