Looking to upgrade rear sway bar, any suggestions?

So racing season is kinda almost sorta upon us up here in Ontario (not really I'm just being hopeful ) and I'm looking to upgrade the rear sway bar but have a couple of questions for the guys who already have:

1. Best bang for the buck?

2. Was there a true noticeable difference with the one you have installed?

I heard the WRX or STI Sway bars fit, im sure you can find those used for pretty cheap. Thats probably the best bang for your buck

It entirely depends on what else you have done to the car as well as your personal preference for how want the car to handle. There is no answer to your current question.

Stock is 14mm.

You can get rear bars from other Subaru's in most any size from 15mm (2010-2013 Outback) to 19mm (2008+ STI). I wouldn't pay more than $50 for one of the Subaru offerings. Aftermarket might offer some adjustability, but will cost a lot more.

Keep in mind, the stiffer the rear bar, the less effective the Torsen LSD is when exiting a turn (all other factors equal). IMHO, I wouldn't increase the rear bar unless I've also increased overall roll stiffness with springs, or at minimum pair it with a front bar.

This. Don't just change the rear bar because you want to "upgrade". You should know exactly what about your car's handling that you want to fix before strt playing with sways.

Rear Swaybar is the LAST suspension mod you choose for this car. As mentioned, you base it off of what else you have done.

I started with a Front Swaybar with my stock suspension, but when I added springs I found I was pushing too much and added a Perrin 16mm adjustable rear swaybar (same effect as a WRX 16mm swaybar in the "soft" mode") to compensate.

I just got new tires/wheels that are a dramatically different size, so now I'm testing the car out to see if I need to get rid of the rear swaybar and go back to stock. So far It feels like I should keep it, not getting any excessive snap oversteer and the car is tucking into corners nicely.

This. Would also help for an idea of what kind of racing. The first few events I did with this car, I'd spent no money on anything but an alignment. Dealing with the twitchyness was semi-accomplished by disconnecting the rear bar, which I think is the only way to get a softer one that wasn't made by Twizzler.

Disconnecting the rear bar introduced other issues, though. Still slid, although would never come all the way around, which is about the best you can do for 10 minutes and zero dollars. But, it also rolled like a Buick.

I run the front Strano bar, which was a huge help for autocross. I had a Perrin 16mm rear on, on the softest setting, and it made the car too tail-happy so I went back to the stock bar.

Honestly, the way this car is designed, unless your trying to drift, I'd never touch the stock rear bar. That being said, as mentioned it all depends on your setup, and what you're trying to do. Generally though, hands off in my and other's experience.

Have the same setup here. My car is very neutral so I've just left the stock rear bar.
