Hit and Run Insurance Claim
Ok so someone backed into my car and took off there is a small scrap on my bumper from it. The cop and my wife told me fuck it take the insurance money and leave it. However waking up this morning right away I looked over saw the mark and it pissed me off. Am I crazy for letting a small thing bother me and wanting to have it fixed or should I take the money and run?

Yes, its frustrating when someone runs away after hitting our babies, but there are more important things in life than worrying about whodunit. Take the insurance money and be glad that the damage wasn't more significant.
However, I would get it appraised first. If the cost is less than your deductible, its not worth making the claim. |

Ill take a picture on my lunch break and you are all going to laugh. When it comes to things like that I keep my cars spotless and im a bit of a perfectionist with things so however tiny the mark I know its there and it drives me crazy.
Part of the thing is because I was parked and it is a hit and run it doesnt raise my insurance if I put in a claim. Second because it was a hit and run if the other driver has insurance I can have his insurance company pay for everything costing me $0 out of pocket or if he is uninsured I pay and my insurance company goes after him and cuts me a check still costing me $0 in the end.

Had he not hit and run I might have been more forgiving but a huge part of this is just to teach the guy a lesson. I am going to go to a body shop and just get the estimate and see what it comes out to and hopefully once I calm down a little make a more rational choice.
Really wanted to see how others felt since my wife thinks im being irrational about a small mark on my bumper.
