This thread went downhill fast...

Didn't they already supposedly "fix" the chirps for 2015? Well mine still chirps. Not very often on the gas by me, but my pump chirped like the plague while I was in Colorado a few weeks ago. To me, this is just one of the quirks of the platform. I know there is nothing wrong, so I don't really care. NVH isn't high on my priority list when it comes to cars.

This just in. Toyota management has decided to scrap the next gen 86. They're sick and tired of hearing all the complaints regarding the crickets and they spent all their future 86 R&D money on replacing essentially good fuel pumps.

Was a permanent fix ever released ?

The last updated pump seems to have about an 80% success rate but there are still guys with issues even on the cars that came with it from the start. I don't think I even had any last summer so maybe it just corrected itself over the years.

Just wait it out. The spill control valve eventually breaks in and quits ringing. Mine's been quiet for a couple years now.

Is that what did it?
Yep, the cricket posts are just a ghost of what they were 3 or 4 years ago so I don't think we are alone in this. Ironically enough the guys that had them unsuccessfully swapped out may have just prolonged the noise.

Welcome, Darth to our informative forum.

I suggest you -

THEN, after you have read about a hundred threads and thousands of posts, you will realize that the permanent "fix" is to sell the car OR just get past it.

Yeah. I gave up tilting at this particular windmill early on. It was my first lesson in forum behavior. We've discussed many times how, regardless of accuracy, most people just look for opinions to support their own.
