I also did see the Karcepts MCS, which is a backup option if the Xidas don't get approved and I have the itch to set money on fire, lol.

Thinking about it now, my Hyperblue had the ProParts 400/400 valved Megans on it and the Shaftworks ride worlds better at 400/600.
Well those reasons seem good to me I have always liked 949 stuff as well. I ran there wheels and lugnuts on my Mx5s without issue and bought them again for my gt86

proparts like Karcepts are also from the autox world lol.

Thanks for the rundown !

Are you sure the Xidas are 46mm shaft diameter? I know their website says "46mm double digressive piston" but in this nasa forum post Greg is pretty clear the rule is for the actual shaft hidden in an inverted strut, not the larger exposed diameter.

That is my post on the NASA forum, I was trying to be vague by using a BMW Bilstein as an example

I'm going off what Emilio said when I asked over here, unfortunately: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...2&postcount=23

I'd be happy to hear there was a misunderstanding though.

edit: I just emailed 949.
edit2: They said 43mm again
edit3: ....Digging intensifies.... it has a 16mm shaft internally

NASA strut diameter rule

Update and clarification: Internal shaft diameter on 86 Xida strut is 16mm so not subject to the specific NASA rule.

Sorry for the confusion.

Car is back together and ready for the last event for a few months. The 12mm bolts in the top of the strut seem to allow for a rough -5.5* camber, I dialed it back to about -4.75* via the camber plates for now and I'll validate with the pyrometer.

Replaced the stock rear 14mm bar with a Mann Engineering I bought from the previous owner (MobiusTFS) of my Hyperblue, he found it wouldn't fit his second gen BRZ, unfortunately.

I did some rough measuring and came up with something like:
Max stiff - ~82lbin
Mid matching holes- ~67lbin
Full soft - ~51lbin

I've seen varying numbers from other people, so who knows what is actually correct. I put it in the middle for now, which I think is something like half? the rate of the stock 14mm.

If I remember right, the stiff setting is roughly the same as an OEM 14mm rear bar. I had that on my old BRZ as well, so sounds like you are pretty close.

Lol, I ended up coming across your Mann bar video while looking around and ended up on your HPR video after that. We shall see what it does at East, not a good test but better than nothing.

I pulled the steering lock out of the car today, what a pain in the ass.

I've just left the thing out of the car for now rather than putting it back in with the lock pin removed. The security light blinks when the car is running, no idea if this will be a problem or not.

At this point, the car has been swapped for almost a full year. Today I wrapped up what is effectively the first track season after being swapped for this car - August 2022 to May 2023; we take a break for the summer months out here in Arizona. Actual NASA season runs Jan-Dec like normal, so the season championship is still ongoing.

I ended up driving the car to the track today since I couldn't drop it off the night before, it reminded me pretty much exactly of my old S2000 that I drove to pretty much every single event. Cabin noise is more than tolerable with the Perrin, not much vibration, and the same banging noise as all of my gear goes flying in the trunk when I hit a large dip on the highway.

Car felt bang on balance wise with the bar at Wild Horse Pass East, took the TT5 record by about half a second. Unfortunately, the track is being torn down for freeway widening next month so I won't get another chance at pushing it down further.

Ran the VS5RS in the front and the EC7R in the rear. I think I like how the EC7R looks better on the car, but the 5 is a couple of pounds lighter and still in production.

Soooo... calling the first "season" done:
Ran 21 Total Events
10 NASA TT5 Wins
Set 5 NASA AZ / NASA SoCal TT5 Lap Records
- Chuckwalla CW (NASA AZ / NASA SoCal)
- Chuckwalla CCW (NASA AZ / NASA SoCal)
- Arizona Motorsports Park CCW (NASA AZ)
- Attesa CCW (NASA AZ)
- Wild Horse Pass East (NASA AZ)

The car never broke causing it to fail to finish an event, which is pretty awesome for a fresh build / swap. Things that I broke over the season:
- Three throttle body bolts, one taking a throttle body adapter with it
- 1x OEM 65mm BRZ throttle body
- 1x Bosch 74mm throttle body
- 1x front Timken wheel bearing
- 1x Jack's built BRZ Transmission
- 1x MAP sensor wire
- 1x Wiring harness power wire
- 1x Exhaust gasket
- 1x Experimental Valve Cover Baffle
- 1x Coilover strut bearing
- 1x Coilover strut bearing to spring hat ... thing

All in all, pretty legit. I do think that I cracked the header this event, so I'll be pulling that tomorrow to see what is up.

I bought 600/600 Xidas - those will be going on when they show up, so begins off season refinement -- the focus will mostly be on improving heat shielding / heat management and simplification of the car.

Wish I went with Xidas. I've been waiting on a set of Nitron R1s since March with no ETA still. Looking forward to the development of the car!
