Out of curiosity, what were the mileage numbers on these before and after dynos and did any of you reset the stock ECU prior to making your stock ECU Pulls?
This is the reason I ask - these dyno pulls are ALL on the same completely stock FR-S, the lowest beign 250 miles w/o reset and the highest being 8000 miles w/ ecu reset. Your stock numbers all look a lot like what my car was back at 250 miles. It has picked up quite a lot through break-in alone, and more through a simple ecu reset. For additional clarity these runs are back to back with the only difference being an ECU reset that brought the power up to the 178 mark: My thinking is that to have apples to apples you should always test them all after a reset and at the same mileage. (One would assume that a reflash resets the ECU memory). |

Easy button on resetting the ECU? Disconnect battery or pull a fuse? Or both?

Just disconnect the battery for 5 minutes or so.

Dyno tests are not the end all be all.
These for example show the opposite of what is being claimed in this thread. |

The stock dyno was around 1k in mileage. The non stock was dynoed around 6k.
Also I am not claiming anything, I am just merely presenting the data we logged during the dyno runs. Also that is a different car with a different environment, with a different intake, and a different exhaust. Can't compare those apples to apples |

Here are the results in 3rd & 4th. Perhaps the OP's hardware is faulty? But 2 different cars with similar results, one @ 6000 miles while the other @ 5000 miles. Note that the baseline used was done a few days earlier when I tested another intake. Just posting my findings. Regards, |

I haven't been impressed with the dyno sheet of the AirRaid or Injen intakes, just put the $300 towards the E85 tune

Would be interesting to see what the car was dynoing at after putting a 1000 miles on it with the intake once it had time to "get used to". Dyno tests as you can see vary by almost 11HP on stock cars. Regardless, all of the intakes we have tested have increased g's and airflow. If that does anything on a stock car? But with a tune there is an obvious increase in power over the stock intake.

Not sure about the OP, but here's my recorded runs from the time I drove the 2 miles to get to my dyno from the dealer's lot to my 1000 mile break in to the recent 5000 mile mark before conducting this series of intake tests... AFRs on the brand new car are richer of course but there wasn't much appreciable difference between the 1000 - 5000 mark, after it "got used to" the driving... Regards, |
