One's art on his own is bad but Bones did a good job animating it.

I liked first stage character design. Takumi seemed more like Takumi in first stage.

I couldn't watch this if I tried... So spoiled on new animation techniques, older shows just look awful to me. I watched Trigun last year and it was tough to get through.

However, the car artwork was the total opposite. The cheesy 90s 3D animation looked okay back in the day, but looking back at it now, it's pretty weak since we're spoiled with animation these days. The new car animation in the Initial D Legends series are pretty spot on with the manga style.

I'm not worried about the "original artwork" since I'm not exposed to the manga and whatnot, all I'll ever know is the fancy new animation, so that's what is important to me
