As we also saw throughout all the threads on the subject there were at least 2 and possibly three slightly different bearings used right at the factory. There seemed to be no real pattern to what was used when so there could have been another supplier involved at random.
It would be odd to do that but not unheard of. also would explain why some people never had an issue while others had exactly the same failures.

If anyone needs the revised TOB I will sell it cheap. My TOB noise went away so I never had it installed.

Old thread, but the images in the OP are useful context if you have bought an aftermarket Exedy clutch kit in the past, recently, or will receive one soon.

I believe that the TOBs they ship in their clutch kit these days include the updated TOB, as the Exedy-provided TOB in my kit matches the pictures of the revised TOB in terms of shape and also have a white paint dot.

Confirmed. Had my TOB and clutch replaced and the Exedy kit comes with the updated TOB

My TOB has started creaking. So without the engine on, I push the clutch pedal down and can hear creaking.
Does the GR86 use this new TOB or a updated version of it? Similar for the Clutch itself, is it revised over the 86 and worth replacing
I am thinking of replacing the clutch kit with the GR version, if I can get one.

Creaking pedal is more likely just the bush at the top of the pedal running dry.
