No injuries and the cars are mostly fine. She'll need a bumper and I'll need a door. I'm just hoping to not get thrown under the bus to the insurance company and my hopes aren't that high.

And from what the officer I spoke to said, only one report is needed, and the other driver has already said she will file it this afternoon. I'm fine with all the facts being presented clearly, and if I am indeed at fault, fine. But I'm afraid she'll call me reckless, or say I was speeding/out of control, or basically anything to get me squarely in to being fully at fault.
But there is no "technically" involved here. You are at fault. You said it clearly in your first statement. She doesn't need to embellish it to determine that. It isn't a big thing but you can not escape full responsibility with this no matter how much you second guess everything now.

Well best of luck and hope it doesn't go sideways on you.

Christmas is coming so you will be able to find some good deals on a dashcam setup. I have a Thinkware F800pro front & rear. Installed it myself with wires completely tucked away in headliner and trims for about $500CAD. Plenty of cheaper options though. I haven't had to utilize the footage yet but lots of close calls that make me glad I have it just in case.

If nobody got injured, and the cars aren't totaled, it's only a minor claim and if you have been good for ten years I doubt your rates will be affected much. Even if they did another insurance might take you anyway.

I would always file a report no matter what the other party says. Even if they lie, that’s your chance to put it in writing your view of the situation. No filing is giving up your voice in the matter.

Technically you should leave yourself enough room to stop no matter what anyone ahead of you does. There are situations like someone pulling out in front of you, or if someone in a dark vehicle has no brake lights, that make it a no fault or at least a gray area. But in the end leaving yourself enough space is your responsibility.

At least you're not on this! I'm in the middle of nowhere Michigan and they are airlifting someone out. Note to self: don't get injured 50mi away from the nearest hospital..

Got the verbal job offer today first thing in the morning. Most likely I’ll take it. Just waiting on more info about the team i would be working on and salary / benefits numbers.

Sure, it's easier to find postings for jobs now, but it also is too easy to apply to postings. The best candidates often get lost in the noise, or get rejected because they missed including some keyword in their resume.

Then there are the brainless employers that post "Entry Level Position requiring 3 to 5 years of experience" ads but have the jobs salaried at the entry level position. People with experience don't apply because they know it will underpay them, and people who really are entry-level don't apply because they don't have the experience, or if they do apply they get rejected immediately because of the automated filtering.

And then employers decide to take their sweet time with the entire process, and don't communicate with candidates.
I was pretty explicit in what I wanted. No keyword search here. Job searches have always sucked. Most of the people I've hired have actually sent me resumes without me posting an ad. Another was a find by an employee. I gave her a bonus for finding him.

This is why, if I move after I retire, it'll be within 5 minutes of a modern hospital. Our current house is maybe 15 minutes from a hospital, though paramedics or fire can get here in less than 10 since there's a fire station and they don't necessarily hang at the hospital.

The nice thing is, we're totally rural, so we get good response time and good being alone. That's a hard combo to find.

Have a phone interview lined up for this afternoon. The person who got in touch was somewhat vague about the start time, so I’ve been sitting and waiting. Starting to get a little anxious with the waiting. Going to follow up with them shortly to see if they’ve forgotten to call me again, like they did on Friday.

If they forgot you once be leery. If they forgot you twice just walk away. Not worth a job change with those red flags.

Yep.

This experience is totally different from the interview with the same company I did in August. Hopefully I hear from them before the end of business hours today.

Strangly enough I would want to get injured 50 miles away than 5 miles away in a big city! That guy will be in ER before a ground ambulance would even get to the scene in a big city.
