Fumes coming out from the vent?
Hello,
I can smell a very mild exhaust or engine fumes, Im not sure if its coming out from the front vent, or if it's the car seat heater but it is normally off, Im driving with the 2 windows open and all the vent close...I don't want to suffocate my self...annoying especially when having a long drive...car is 2 mos old, will consider changing the whole car and buy a different kind if it wont come off..While it still have its value...Does anyone have the same problem?...It a health hazard really..... Cheers.... |

Hi Moss, Don't fill up with 95, only fill up with 98.
I have had a similar smell when I first drove my car hard a few times. Might be why your getting this smell on longer drives. If you can try giving it a bit of a fang to see if this creates the smell, if it does that smell should stop in the near future and no need to sorry. Else take it to your dealer and get them to look at it |

Ah I mean drive it hard, above 4k RPMS. You will notice you get that smell maybe the first 10 times you drive hard. I am sure the smell will go away after you do. Everyone gets it

One other thing to check is the cam plate on the back of the engine. On US cars, it's on the passenger side. . .not sure if it's the same for the RHD cars though. It has been known to seep oil and that lands right on top of the overpipe and burns off. That could be what you're smelling. I had this issue on my car until I replaced it with a Raceseng plate.

If only they all smelt that way. ....
But seriously... Drive it the way its meant to be enjoyed, the coatings and smells will disappear quicker. I was told the first 5000kms the car will probably have weird smells from everything cooking off... I think I had mine cooked off by 2500kms |

Here's the link: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46518 Installation is pretty simple. Remove 3 bolts, pull stock plate, clean up area with a scraper and some towels. Put 2 dabs of gasket maker in the areas indicated in the instructions, lube the o-ring, install plate and torque to 12 in-lbs. Wait 45m, then torque to 14 in-lbs. Let it sit until the gasket maker fully cures. For me, I let it sit for 48 hours since I work from home. |
