Its just a matter of style for some, Its not that OEM ones are not good, These just give the rear of the car a different look.

Since these are DOT compliant I assume that means they're completely plug and play? No repining of the connectors?

Correct, these are 100% plug and play as mentioned in the original post. The connectors are already correctly pinned
