I'm not so sure. This is an affordable car, but they're really not all that common. I see many more mx5's & other sports cars than I see twins.

MR2s are affordable and not common as well they don't really wave at one another.

To be honest I don't have a problem getting attention in either car, although some of it is not wanted.
I have waved at quite a few and gotten waves back.
Hell @captain_jack blows me kisses, @RedLeader was telling me his number , @jack43 waved at me one day, The Red FRS Mentioned has stopped and talked to me (he was at the AZ86 Bash), A lady in her Silver FRS was pretty much flirting and also blew me a kiss... Jack got upset though.

I really have not had a problem, sometimes they don't but when I notice I look and wave seems to be returned. Must be a Phoenix problem....

I honked like 40 times and a silver fr-s driving on the 17 till he looked over at me! Haha but he was on the other side of the freeway as I was exiting. He did happen to look over finally and I waved like a maniac! It looked like he threw up a simple wave and was wondering if I was sane lol

I saw something depressing yesterday... An fr-s Comercial.. Do you know what this means for us??

I usually get waves as well.

Those who don't are probably on "drone pilot" mode, which doesn't describe a car enthusiast at all. Not to mention that getting tunnel vision like that is just simply dangerous in general.

I did run into another BRZ a few thursday nights ago when heading south on the I17 after D&D. He was really flooring it, and it took me some work to catch up to him in an area where a slow poke wasn't blocking me from pulling up alongside. I got a nice thumbs up and wave from him when I finally caught up alongside. That was fun.

In Arizona, almost everyone on two wheels will wave at each other. We don't have quite the same cruiser/sport angst as a lot of other states where they ignore each other. I've had bike cops wave back too. The only biker group that NEVER waves is girls on scooters. I have never ever gotten a wave back from a girl on a scooter, even when I rode a scooter.
