0-60 mph - forget handling ability for 5.9 seconds
Okay, so I know this car is for handling and talk of 0-60 is sacrilegious to some, but the car must at least be quick. For FUN, lets guess the 0-60 times. To review, it seems that 60 will be achieved at the top of second so that helps and the car is lighter than all of the other ''sport compacts'' with circa 200 hp. The Civic Si and GTI can both get there in the low to mid 6's so I propose that this car will be a bit faster.
I estimate 0-60 to be 6 even on stock tires, 5.8 on high performance tread. These times are what I think hooligan journalists who don't really care about the engine can achieve, not what the average driver is capable of. Discuss.

I also think it will be 0-100 km/h in less than 6 sec. My car will do it in 5 sec. Haha, stripped down, more power, lighterweight rims, semi-slick tires.

I think it will be around the speed of a RX8. I'd imagine 0-60 times in the 5.9-6.2 range and a mid-high 14 sec 1/4 mile. "quick-enough" for most, but not fast.

I am going to guess mid to high 6s. Toyota and Subaru are stating around 6 second 0-60 but in car marketing jargon (and drag racing) that could mean 6.99 sec. ie. "I ran in the sixes!"
The 2012 Honda Civic Si has comparble weight, hp and a little more torque. It runs 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. I would be shocked if a stock FRS/BRZ could best it by a full second to 60mph. Edit: I better lock down a specific time because everyone else is. I will say MT = 6.5 AT = 6.7 (hey they said it was good!) Last edited by Rampage; 12-07-2011 at 04:36 PM. |

I bet 5.8 to 6.2 0 to 60 MPH..This car will be just a little bit slower than a S2000...and we still don't have a real world dyno...the car could be putting down 200HP to the rear wheels!
We just have to wait and see. We already know the gearing is good... |

I've seen the 2012 Si quoted at 6.3 for the sedan.

MT 6.2 seconds
AT 6.7 seconds I care more about the torque curve though. |

Does anybody know if the auto has launch control? If so it will probably be faster to 60mph. It will be around 6sec. or so depending on the driver, maybe right at 6sec. for a really good driver.

yes! to activate it you press down on the brake pedal with your left foot. then you press down on the throttle with your right foot. when the light turns green, you lift your left foot and mash your right foot...

The closest car I know of is the Renault Clio RS200 which is 1205kg 200 BHP 158 Lbft. It does 0-62 in 6.9s using Michelin PS2s with very little grip problems.
I would expect the Toyota/Scion/Subaru to be faster due to RWD but not by much as it supposedly is running LRR prius tyres so 0-62 in ~6.7 so 0-60 in 6.5. (this is what EVO are estimating as well) It will not be sub 6 without much better tyres and some tuning |
