what if I ran just the gutted header and left the cat in the front pipe? would that help with the sound or no sound and just interfere with the exiting exhaust?

It would likely sound better and not raspy. Tbh there are minimal gains to be netted on a catless front pipe, at least for NA. There are gains to be netted on a gutted header or catless header. Everything will require a tune for gains.

Alright, yea that's what I was leaning more towards was just the gutted header to drown out some raspiness since everyone is saying it's raspy. But I am going to run stage 1 with my stock headers and then I'm getting another set and running stage 2 on the gutted headers

I get a lot of compliments on it.
Nice cap. Got some good cooter there.

That's my Sebring hat. I really want to go back this year but I have to wait until 2018. the 12 Hours is a lot of fun to go to.

Yeah I'm more of a Cooterized rolled bill kind of a guy not one of these flat bill punk kids running around today. LOL

I get a lot of compliments on it.

A lot of times when you hear bad things about gutting it's from people who have no experience with it. But it works and it made my car like it has a new engine- huge difference in power but I have yet to dyno it. But My 80-100 MPH time went down by about 1.5 secs and my 0-60 MPH time has lost close to a second too (still on stock tires).

I know the gains aren't the same as the high end headers, but you have the advantage of the stock heat shielding- there is no risk of cooking coils or anything else if you keep the stock heat shields. Also, OEM quality is top notch. No chance of cracked welds.
That really sounds good imo and I'm big into quiet. Lol.

I will definitely be looking more into before and after of the gutted headers and anymore information I should be informed about with the gutted header would be awesome
Precisely. I mean one cat has to be first against the exhaust stream.

I don't care if it gets eaten up, frankly. And if it fails totally and I want it replaced, I can go to the dealer and ask them why my car is stinky, and get them replaced within 100k as it's an emissions component.

When i removed the cat in the header is when my exhaust got raspy, the air doesn't flow very well because where the cat once was is now just a chamber for exhaust gasses to get caught up in. When i ran a catless front pipe and stock catted headers, it sounded decent. If you can cut the cat and weld a pipe in, you'll get a better sound i would imagine, but i hated the gutted cat sound so much i bought some cheap headers to fix just the sound.

The difference with mine may be the cherry bomb. It cuts out any rasp and helped a lot with the Berk drone. Also a lot of people straight pipe it which gets rid of the resonator and that weird muffler thing in the stock front and mid pipes. All those help the sound a lot.

Also the Cooter hat helps a lot. Never underestimate

adding on to this OFT thread, would I be able to run stage 2 EL header tune on the stock headers? or would that mess anything up? I mean I'm picking up some headers later today but I just would like to know if I could hahaha

No. Do not do this. Very large chance you will damage something.

It won't damage anything, but will drop performance as your car isn't setup properly for that tune. There's no life threatening difference from stage 1 to stage 2, the only difference is that one is meant for cats and the other catless.
