As am I. Yet to update. I have the new no car home version but need to know it can be rooted before I update it.

If you dont know what to do with XHIFI, try this as a base:
Hi Clarity: 60
Lo Contour: 30

Seems to work well on most devices I've tried it on, let me know how it sounds for you.
So this is the newest version with root? I guess all I need to do is edit prop file to kill CarHome, flash, and instantly have root?!

Sorry guys! This is a learning experience for me as well. I forgot to set the system as read/write in the boot.img. So it was like half rooted lol.

New update uploaded with full root now.

Great work. Any chance you can add in the unofficial no car home? In can link you.

May I ask, why are you including the V4A XHIFI app? It was discontinued by the developer and it's features merged with those of V4A FX.

Other than that, nice work with the firmware dumping.

I'll post my results when I get around to trying. I don't talk on the phone that much so I rarely take calls in the car.

Thanks for this. What root method did you apply on this ROM?

XHIFI is supposedly better at what it does than FX. Seems to make a difference to me.

I dumped the boot.img and enabled system as r/w. (as I forgot to do the first time).

Dumped the system.img.lzo and swapped out their su binary for Koushik's su binary.

Pretty simple, just took me time to figure out how they packed things as I'm a newb to doing this.

The way they pack the boot/uramdisk/recovery seems similar to Sony Xperia X8... I want to try and integrate an overclocking module similar to what they did for the Xperia.

I took the ROM posted by @burmjeff and edited. I saw a file called logo.bmp. I re-sized(poorly lol) an 86 wallpaper to 1024x600 and replaced it. Link is below. I have yet to flash but if my additions are working then it should be:
Pre-rooted
Viper audio
3 GB app partition
Custom boot logo(added)
CarHome disabled(added)

Is there a changelog somewhere that shows all the updates from the current and past updates?

Just got this up and running. Thanks for getting this together. Wish I knew how to do it myself. Maybe someday...
