If not for the BRZ I'd be in a 2013/2014 WRX 5-door, or MAYBE a used STi if a good deal presented itself.

I needed to replace my old 2000 Legacy this year because the repair costs I was paying almost every month were about what the monthly payments on a new car would be, so waiting for the 2015 WRX was out of the question...plus I'm still not 100% sold on the new exterior.

I didn't really have any other options on the table.

^Ya FR-S

But to really answer the question... I've always been a Toyota fanboy faithfully waiting for the Supra successor then Celica successor years ago. The FT-HS (400hp RWD sports car hybrid concept) was *the* reason to study my ass off circa 2007 and get some sort of decent career squared away. I wasn't keen on the hybrid/auto tranny part but I'd still probably be saving my pennies for that Supra successor (FT-HS) or give up earlier and bite on the RC-F. Either way, I'd still probably feel meh about either being [likely] auto transmission only. Or if I didn't save a decent chunk of cash during those years, maybe a used NSX.

But when the FT-86 was announced circa 2009 and affordability and manual tranny announced circa 2011, I was so excited/relieved. Dat feels bro.

Would just keep on toying with the mr2... there's nothing out there that is special compared to the frs without spending at least double.

That's not a difficult one to answer! I'd have likely paid my Civic SI sedan off and would be looking forward to a 2015 Mustang GT. If I could not hold out that long, then it would probably be a 370Z...unless Nissan stopped toying with my emotions and built an S16!

My next choice would have been to splurge on a used Cayman S.

Likely a GTI or WRX (Which is why I get annoyed when people say "You can't compare the twins to hot hatches, you can only compare them roadsters like the S2000 and Miata. Yeah, I'm not going to daily drive a soft-top with no back seat and a tiny trunk)
