Why you haven't bought the FR-S/86/BRZ yet?
I have not bought/ordered the GT86 due to a combination of all following reasons:
-Waiting for build quality and reliability to improve (guessing two years should sort out the most things) -Hoping we will see improvement in torque or fuel consumption (less likely on that engine). Or another engine option becomes available. -Waiting for TRD/STI version to be revealed in case that car would be much more desirable. Or just some cool special edition with some desirable parts/options/colors. -Waiting for a more practical hatcback version to pop up. (yeah, not very likely) -Saving up money (and paying down my house) -Waiting for other cars to be revealed or improved upon that might be an option. -Still happy with my car and have not owned it for much more than 6 months. I usually keep my DD between 1-2,5 years. -Extented warranty will also last much longer on my current car. So cost and depreciation is not that large compared to a brand new car. |

Paying down bills to get credit score as high as possible before financing and pay down my current car as much as possible to get the best trade-in/sale value I can. Also want to get through the winter with my current car, since I know how it handles in the snow, I have snow tires for it already, and I won't be as paranoid to crash a brand new car.
I've already ordered the FR-S...just had them shoot for April delivery

Put a deposit down (BRZ) in April, cancelled in October.
Got tired of the runaround and delays (May turned into August, which turned into September-November, which turned into December, which turned into March.) Decided I don't need a second car since I walk or bike to work every day. Cancelled my order. No regrets. |

Paying off credit cards first and saving up a bigger downpayment. Also, 6mo. wait on a BRZ order anyway :-(

Many of my reasons overlap with the OP's:
1. no first model year for me, even from Toyota or Subaru; 2. hoping for more power, or at least torque, in an upgraded FR-S or BRZ; 3. the Focus ST might be a better option because it could replace my TSX, and it's a fantastic drive with more power than the twins, so I have to consider it seriously (but not this year...see #1, above); 4. not the best time financially; and 5. related to #3, it couldn't replace either of our other cars, both of which do family duty, and we live in downtown Philadelphia where owning three cars is expensive and kind of a hassle. Honestly, if I lived in the 'burbs, I'd probably do it next year and keep my TSX, but in the city it probably ain't happening. |

I shouldn't buy it, but i probably will.
It's weird different dealerships are offering packages on the scion. Full red seats, white trim leather, painted vents, navi option? those are just some i ran across at a total of 5 dealers around NW suburbs of chicago. Thoughts 1. I cant really afford one according to that damn financial show. 2. I'm scared the whiteouts will become more difficult to find. 3. I want to have some fun before the world ends... DEC 21 lol... 4. All the scions are AT around me so i will probably need to order a manual. |
