I got a chip on the way to install my clear bra. What are the odds?
I got the custom full hood installed now.

Jeremy did an awesome job.

Why was the full hood custom? Xpel has a pattern that covers the entire front end already.

If the edges need to be tucked they may use the template for the general shape but still do the rest custom

The Xpel pattern covers edges. All Xpel patterns cover every edge that can be covered without risk of lifting, which is most edges. I've never seen a full hood pattern of theirs that didn't cover all four edges. I hope you weren't charged extra because I know their full hood FR-S/BRZ pattern covers all four edges.

Shrug mine was done completely custom using suntek rather than xpel. Same healing properties optically clearer, and costs less. Just has a 5 year warranty versus 10 for the xpel

I know the bumper was a pre-cut two piece but the side fender was custom. The side view mirrors are custom. Something about it being a two piece instead of one.

I would have to check but I thought the hood was custom.

Spent about $1250 for the entire thing including door trims and a trunk liner over the rear bumper. (All front lights covered too).

Hoping I can tap into the HU and use Pin 7 and 15 for the power and ground for the camera.

6 PKB Parking brake input
7 CA+ +6V supply (output to camera)
8 V+ Camera Video Signal Input (+)
15 CGND HU grounds this internally
16 V– Camera Video ground/shield

Looking forward to DIY , someone pointed out to me that for BRZ it's almost a direct plug in since all the wires were done from factory already unlike FRS.

You really can't see what's close to your tail when the car isn't moving.
(when the car is moving, all 3 rear view mirror can cover up to like 200 degree if set up right)

From all the post I read, it's pretty easy except for getting the power and finding a good ground. I'm hoping I can use what is coming out of the HU for them.

Ahhhh, that explains it. The Suntek is definitely less expensive but I will disagree about the rest. I replaced Suntek on two cars because of cloudiness and the film didn't heal like they said it would. My STI got Xpel Stealth and my GTI got Ultimate. IMO both Xpel products were better than Suntek but at the end of the day, as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters. ANY film is better than nothing.

Installed the rear view camera today. In hindsight, I should have installed the camera further back away from the edge.

Thanks to all the post out there that did most of the work. I basically followed this post http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32452.

Thank goodness for fish tape, nylon string and straws+chop sticks because that helped speed the process when feeding the wires through the rubber tube, the side panel and up to the HU.
I did use the power and ground from the HU by splicing into pin 7 and 15 on the 16-pin camera socket.

Pin-out:

Pin Label Description
6 PKB Parking brake input
7 CA+ +6V supply (output to camera)
8 V+ Camera Video Signal Input (+)
15 CGND HU grounds this internally
16 V– Camera Video ground/shield

Also it helps to take the panel above the glove compartment off to get to the panel for the HU.

Everything is direct plug except for the power and ground. Since the adapter they shipped me for the 16 pin socket came fully wired for all 16 pins, I just had to splice into the right pins on the adapter.
I would definitely recommend using this camera kit because you don't have to cut any of the factory wires or look for a ground.

That part was easy.

Yes, it's Xpel with the 10 year warranty per the invoice.
