This is not the place to debate other systems versus what we prefer, EcuTeK. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Not trying to be a pain in the butt, but trying to keep the thread to questions and answers.

Thank You,
William Knose

@DeliciousTuning, will we be able to use the retail ecutek software to modify these tunes?

I would like to wish you a happy new year and apologize for the delayed email. I was very busy in December and also took two weeks of vacation, my only vacation with my family all year. So now I am back for another year.

Currently all my tunes are locked, so you can modify your own tunes. Though I have been discussing this with other EcuTeK tuners to see what would be a good solution for our customers.

I do understand that everyone wants to tune their own vehicle or at least see how things operate but this is how we protect ourselves from tampering and how we do make a living. So finding a balance is what we are trying to determine.

What would interest you in custom tuning your own vehicle? Why would you like the opportunity to use retail EcuTeK tuning software?

Cheers,
William Knose

I am not sure if you know many people at EcuTek but as a master tech I imagine you might know a few. I would maybe suggest to them a way to modify some of the racerom features separately from the rest of the maps. I'm not sure if they can separate the the encrypted information from the non-encrypted but this way those like myself who would like the tune but the ability to adjust things like launch control would be great. This way based on different tires or conditions I could alter the value to get a good launch and do so on the fly with no need to bother you. I imagine that would keep your intellectual property safe.

@DeliciousTuning

We could really use some advise on comparing EcuTek features, options, updates vs BRZedit. Not sure how much experience you have with BRZedit, but we were thinking about the possibility of trying it out. I currently have EcuTek on my personal FRS, and I don't know what is involved if I want to switch software. Or are we better off using the new EcuTek software update that would allow our tuner to tune on my vehicle? I have been hearing from other sources that BRZedit is lagging behind in updated, and does not have the full RaceRom features that EcuTek currently has. What are your thoughts on this?

You guys are kind of in a catch 22 with that. Want to provide a good tune but don't want to give away your trade secrets. Maybe have a "basic/generic" tune that isn't your best, in fact it could be just a step above the stock tune, but shows what some of the things are that you change so people can see that compared to a stock tune. I think this would help tremendously in FI applications. Being able to have a turn key setup, even if it's not at it's full potential, but something safe to revert back to, with the ability to modify afterwards.

Personally I love learning new things. Even if I have the money to pay someone else to do something, if I haven't done it before and I believe I have the ability to do so, I would want to do it myself at least to say that I CAN do it. Pretty much the reason for me to want end user tuning.

I would like to thank you for all your support over the past few months, your experience and knowledge of tuning the Sprintex/Innovate kit is superb.
Each time I get a new file, I know it's going to be damn awesome and a whole lot more power.
keep up the great work, I know you put long hard hours into development of your tunes and always find time to support your client base.

Here's to you

Responded to PM's. Sorry for my delay, I have been hard at work on developing tuning solutions for the new Mercedes CLA 250 and CLA AMG. But my main focus is still the 86 crowd, especially forced induction and E85.

Also I have some new updates coming out for the folllowing very soon.

1. Innovate Kit for 75, 72.5, 70 and 69mm pulleys with intecoolers, on 91 and 93 octane.
2. Full blown turbo kits, switchable boost maps and much improved tunes.
3. AVO turbo kit, switchable boost maps and improved power and response.
4. NA on E85, what if you could hit 200whp on E85 ONLY... Think it is possible....

Cheers,
William Knose
