Yeah but that is with pro shifting, in the real world. When a v6 Camry owner just stomps the gas in an AT and some dummy like me has to row through gears the Camary wins by a larger margin. However the twins can more casually accelerate fast, like it isn't any big deal where as the Camry shouts and hollers and lets everyone know they are flooring it. The Camry has to make a big fuss to pass a twin, likely something they don't do that often. Where as I take off from a stop or red light pretty fast consistently because the car is light and its not a big fuss to get going quickly. This is all in a dead straight line of course. |

I'm just trying to get to my location with a bit of fun. I almost always take off the line briskly but Im not launching it for a drag race against a Camry, plus I passed that dude on the freeway right away. |

Using the base numbers it is .1 second over the MT. Doesn't matter how they got hem. Now of course the poor AT drivers are only going to see Camry tail lights but that is a different matter.

OK .4 seconds. We are doomed.

Also I feel I should mention in all my 6 years of ownership I have seen one or maybe two Camry v6s that where even willing to drive with any sort of aggressiveness so among Camrys as you said it is a rarity but when they feel the need for speed they can get going pretty damn fast from a stop. |

Before I bought my 86, I was 'considering' getting a boring reliable sedan like the accord or camry. I had just sold my M235. My friend, knowing this was really stupid of me to even consider and I would always regret it, made the ultimate sacrifice.... He flew out from NYC and rented a camry (v6) for the day. Came over early on a sunday morning, threw me the keys, and said.. let's go to supercar sunday - you drive.
He made his point... I was immediately frustrated with just how horribly the car handled and felt. Everything I did, it was like it would pause 5 seconds before it would react to my inputs. Then when it did it somehow did in the most annoying way possible. Made stupid noises and blinked and flashed at me. Brakes felt like giant soft sponges and the car would dive whenever I tried to actually use them as I don't think Toyota ever expected anyone to try to change speed or direction rapidly in that car. I was cussing and swear at the thing constantly on the drive over. Felt horribly embarrassed around real car people that I knew with some of the best cars in LA (and hence the world).. pulling up in a Camry I parked at the far edge of the lot out of shame. At least it was a rental... Then we went out to a few dealerships to do some test drives of other cars including a brz, wrx and a maserati wth. Got back in the Camry to drive to a malibu beach house with some hot girls... in a Camry... I gave the keys back to my friend and said, 'I'm never driving that thing again. If you don't drive it back, I'm driving it into the ocean where it belongs'. Bought my 86 the next day. Point of the story: There is nothing on paper that will ever make the Camry in any way competitive with the twins. It is a truly awful car to drive in all regards no matter how much your mother says it is the best car she's ever owned. |

I feel this way about the Civic. In every conceivable way, it's the car people talk about when they say this insufferable phrase "I don't care about cars, I just need something to get me from point A to point B". Even typing that out just now was awful. I would actively avoid driving that car and absolutely understand why people hate driving and want self-driving cars. It is a miserable, joyless thing meant to destroy souls and ambition

There is a guy on youtube with a 2017 86 that pulls 6.06 0-60 stock. So you're .4 just became a .26.

I drove a 97 crown vic with an open diff for 5 years in illinois, summer winter and all, 4 foot snowfalls and all that. the stigma with SUV ownership is that its safer but reality is you have four wheels and only two of them turn. which wheels being powered when makes 4x4 or awd nice, but at the end of the day a fwd car has more weight over the front axles and can do just fine. I feel that A-Spec is superhandling awd which has me interested the most. also this is coming from a guy who has a 300 hp Awd suv and got it for the sole purpose of all weather tow/people transport and happen to like offroading and camping with it maybe i should say, if i was willing to give up the tow capacity and utility of it, id get a midisze luxo car |

Hilarious how one car is considered fast because you can just hit a pedal and another with almost identical times is slow because you have to actually drive it. You guys carry on with your getting your asses kick by Camry's.
