Also, for some reason I noticed (on a road trip) I can get better mpg maintaining 65mph with my right foot then I get with my cruise control. Never have I had this happen in any other car. Kind of bummed about that.
Definitely the AT is an advantage in this situation and why I'm glad I purchased since mine is a DD. Of course, it will still take me a long time to recoup the cost of the AT.

I did some shots on my Owner's Journal at different speeds under similar road conditions with my AT. You can see 'em here.

I could never own a 4cyl AT... mush less an AT sports car..

I think from the hypermilers, cruise is bad for economy when you know what you are doing, though for most of us, its a way of holding us back and so it at least improves things relatively.

Wow, talk about a ****.

You said averaged. I thought you meant overall, not that one trip.

I usually get about 380 a tank. 75% highway/25% city. Worst tank I have seen is 350. My best tank was over 420.

Ive noticed from some of my longer drives, i can drive 200 miles and avg about 35 (not driving 100% eco and i dont live in the flattest area) but if i run 10-20 miles flat out it cuts into the average fairly significantly...
If i wasnt worried about other cars/people and my license i could definitely average well under 20 on a highway drive, even more so with city added in.

333 miles on 11 gallons of fuel was the farthest I pushed. That's a little over 30 mpg for that fill up.

340.... and that was consistent. I dont know how the hell yall are getting 408-420... and that was on a long stretch ATLANTA to MIAMI trip I did. Granted I had a couple extra hundred lbs in the car too.

City 293 consistent.

Did you, by chance, get a measurement of each? It is fairly common for a human to get better fuel economy than cruise (since you can anticipate hills/valleys, merging traffic, etc) but I am interested to see your numbers just for the sake of comparison.

Also, @Dadhawk Thanks for being so detailed in logging your fuel consumption and whatnot. It's really helpful.

Honestly, this has exceeded all my expectations. I figured I'd be happy with mid 20's given the EPA numbers. Also, I don't drive with a light foot, never have, it's just not in my DNA. I'm always the first off the light, and the one trying to see just how fast I can take an off-ramp.

Yea that answered it...thank you

different gearing makes a difference! engine's "loafing" at 2,500. cruising in drive. "stick" would probably add another 500 (r.p.m's) in 6th gear overdrive
am curious how much better mileage would be if you cruised at say 60,or 65.
maybe drop your revs down to 2,000 or so?

How do you guys get such good mpg? I drive a manual frs and my average mpg on it says 20.5mpg I've had it for 2.5 weeks now or so and I've even shifting at 2.5k every gear except first. I shift at 3.5-4k rpm from first to second. My car currently has 382 miles on it or so. Teach me your ways!

shift all the way up to 6th every time... lol. Sounds crazy, but my A/T will go all the way to 6th even when I'm doing 35-40 mph.
