Anyone Ever Been To Toyota Track Day?
Yesterday I got an email from Toyota inviting me to their 2019 Track Day. They're hosting the event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario.
Has anyone ever been to one of these events? What's it like? Is anyone here on the forums coming this year?

I received those invites a couple of times but they were both on days I was away.
I love the irony that they will invite you to participate but if you break anything they can refuse warranty because the car was tracked. I would still go if invited and available though.

I received an invite like that, but to Mirabel in Montreal. I RSVPd, but I have a 2018 GTI now. I am hoping they still let me go. (fingers crossed)
Also hoping the new Supra will be there! (toes crossed) |

Yep - the 1st one
In 2012, there were very few 86's, track day notice went out, and it was easy to sign up.
You rode shotgun in one of Toyota's Scion FRS on the Gran Prix track, and drove autocross with an instructor with your own twin . The new notice was probably filled within minutes of posting due to the larger number of owners now. But - they will be strict on mods, (cannot remove a cat etc.) and many spots I'm sure were booked by owners with mods and will be D Q'd on arrival. It's likely that its an advertising venue for the SUPRA to get us horny for it. |

I think it would depend on what the failure was. If a knock sensor went bad, water pumps starts leaking, or the VVT gears come apart, they would have a hard time denying it. A clutch, damage due to overrev, or synchros... yea, good luck getting them to cover items that can be user error. This sort of event would be short sessions and pretty conservative overall because they are going to be expecting stock cars (factory brake lines, fluid, pads, rotors, calipers). You obviously won’t be able to do track time on the stock brakes and get sour when they won’t cover new brakes at 20k miles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There was just a thread about how the dealer said a bad in tank fuel level sensor was caused by the installation of an aftermarket radio... Dealers salivate at any and all reasons to avoid a warranty claim

The dealer doesn’t provide the warranty. They, unfortunately, just happen to be the people that carry out the work. In these grey area issues, it takes a call to corporate and issues that should get covered typically do. This is another reason the dealer model needs to die, IMO. It isn’t possible for customers to get their warranty work done to the satisfaction of the customer when the dealer has to act as a middleman. The dealer has an incentive to deny claims. They minimize their risk of paying for uncovered claims by refusing to do anything that is remotely in a grey area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sounds like Toyota is mostly concerned about noise. Think they will care about small things like suspension and strut tower bars? |
