You should be ok. 40mph shouldn't have revved the engine too much into the redline. Just don't make a habit of it.

Not good. I did something similar on a right rand sweeper on some back roads and the only thing that happened was the rear stepped out and I fought to get control of the car; I felt it as soon as I let the clutch out a little bit and then in an instant the rear just snapped out. It happens, remember to push the clutch in and steer the car straight.

A history of caution to you. Many years ago I accidentally downshifted from 3rd @ 90 mph to 2nd. Poor Civic revved to over 10K. The least offensive thing that happened was two pistons melting... (True Story)

Did you push the clutch back in before you over-rev'd the engine? If so, you're safe. You probably just got a little extra wear on your transmission synchros by having 1st gear spin up that quickly.

This chart says that the max speed in first gear (at 7400 rpms) is 36 mph. If you were going faster than that and you let your engine over-rev, then you might have damaged something; probably your valves.

The best thing for you to do now is to simply drive your car and see if you notice and issues. If not, you're good to go.

I remember seeing a yellow light but not sure what light this is. I quickly downshifted to 2nd but I should have gone up to 3rd.

how much mph can you go in first at 7500rpm?

Slip light most likely, I'm more than confident you broke the tires loose. As Grim just said, it's around 36mph.

I don't know about others, but even if I try, I can't go downshift to 1st gear until I down to 5km/hr with my car. However I did once when I was doing 110km/hr to 3rd gear, that was when I first got my car and first driving manual.

It didn't blow up instantly? J/K...

It should be good, but problems may arise. Drive without the radio on & listen if anything sounds odd. Good luck...
