FAT has done some other unique setups like a twin-turbo RS, and a twin-charged STi so it's not all that surprising. Twin-turbo isn't the route I would go on this car though, I would do twin-charged. The HKS setup they showed recently is pretty cool although you lose the AC.

In reality though with the high CR of the motor a single modern turbo like the GTX or B-W EFR series would spool faster and make more power than a twin setup at the same boost. There is a reason manufacturers don't twin-turbo 2L 4-cylinder engines anymore.

FAT has done some unique yet functional setups such as the compound charged wrx drift car we also have, I was even surprised by the twin idea! Spool up is actually pretty good! I do also have a GTX30R if I did want to go simple which is an awesome modern single turbo that I know works well and responds but decided to try something different and challenging which is impressive how it came out and drives! I respect innovation sometimes don't know how something is til you try

Forget all this twin turbo stuff. What I want is a big single with an MGU-H system!

That MGU-H system is going to be one tricky bugger, good luck with that.

They'll eventually have all the bugs worked out of them. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar system on a few (low production) street cars in the next 10 years.

Anybody willing to try their own thing on their car is good in my book, either goods for the rest of us or a lesson learned!

Forget 10 years... Isn't that what we are seeing now with the Porsche 918, Mclaren P1 and La Ferrari? I realize they haven't put the recovery/drive systems into the turbo yet, they've obviously had to make the systems simple and somewhat reliable. But they're early versions of this tech where the electric motors act as generators to charge the system when not in use.

I can't wait for commercially available turbos with an electric motor inside them... Mr Phantom supercharger, feel free to coming your system with a turbo!

What we're seeing on those is more akin to the MGU-K used on F1 cars. The 918 system is very similar to the LMP drive system. Basically they're just high performance variants of existing hybrid systems.

I really want electric-hybrid turbos, though.
