PES: Peace Eco Smile

Toyota has resorted to making Anime to indoctrinate their brand to a new audience with PES.

Product placement; it's why I no longer own a TV.

I just watched an anime where a prius was randomly shown prowling the streets during the series and on the second to last episode it almost runs the main character over.

Subaru sponsored an anime that was about magic girl (witches). Ichitaka linked to it in the anime thread.

I'll take tasteful product placement over commercial interruptions any day. Besides, how seriously do you take the old movies/shows where every label is hidden, it's almost more distracting than having an actual brand. Besides, the main character's car is almost never non-descript, no matter the movie/show.

But that's the issue. It used to just be that a character would use an Apple computer, or drive a Chevy in the big chase scene and I had no problem with that. Now it's almost exclusively not tasteful and, too me, is much more disruptive/distracting/immersion-breaking than a commercial break. Case in point, having scripted dialog that sounds like it was pulled straight out of a sales brochure.

That wasn't too bad.

To each, his own.

Personally, I've stopped watching shows for less.

I think the bigger problem here is that you watch House.
