Our Tech section is bigger than the manufacturing section believe it or not. We make the money and they spend it.

In a good, or bad way?

Some days I feel like all I did was wait for people between running in circles. The times when I get to feel like a hero totally make up for it.

So I was out at lunch earlier, and my manager messaged me on our company chat network thing.

him: "heard [your coworker] told everybody he's leaving. you doin ok? wanna talk?"

me wishing I could say: "well, not much to talk about. i'm looking for a new job too and obviously attrition rate is trending upward for our team, so RIP"

context: current manager is actually a director for 6 or so teams. he took over for my previous manager who left for an unknown length leave (at least 6 months so he's basically gone), who took over from another guy as manager back in June. also somebody left back in September.

Too many to rank .....

That reminds me of the time back-in-the-day, on a entertain the clients trip down to Mexico.

It was a very hot weekday evening and lots of the streets and roads in and around Mazatlan were flooded, which restricted travel around town.

However, me and my co-host had three clients that were dead set on going out on the town (if you know what I mean). Since we were obligated to accompany them, we summoned our trusty guide and cab driver, Eladio. We told him we wanted a first class place ...... none of those nasty places downtown.

So, we headed out to the outskirts of town to an establishment named Casa da Cuca .......... oh, damn ....... I think I've told this story before ........ sorry .......

No worries, I already wrote a script that read all your posts (with an algorithm to pick out the stories), exported it all to a giant pdf, uploaded it to Amazon, and now I make about $300/week in royalties on it. There are no exact doubles, although sometimes they are strikingly similar with just a few different words mixed around. No one has complained yet.

Well, OK, @spike021 ...... just for you.

We drove through the "suburbs" of Mazatlán and arrived at the Casa da Cuca, which was a 2 1/2 story, pink, stucco building, which was nicely landscaped.

Eladio let us off at the front steps that went up to the main entrance. Eladio parked (he was on a retainer for the week) so he waited for us.

As we entered the main room on the second level, our clients were like a bunch of kids in a candy shop. Ken, my co-host, in his gutter Mexican, explained that three of us were customers and that two of us were on duty.

(side note, Ken spoke and understood Spanish, but never let on like he did ...... just muttered gutter Mexican)

Now, THAT strategy of ours, saved us a lot of headaches when traveling on business in Mexico.

OK, back to the story. The three clients grabbed up the first three girls to the right ...... and were led downstairs. There must have been a dozen to choose from.... The madam was getting perturbed that we wouldn't make a selection, so, in order to appease her.....I volunteered.

There was this cute, young one sitting quietly in the corner, which I selected. She led me downstairs into a room where she asked for the money and then started to take off her dress.

I told her to leave her clothes on and we would just go out on the veranda and chat till the others finished. She spoke some English and I understood some Spanish. We had an interesting conversation, she was only 16 years old, been in the business for 6 months, her father was a fisherman and she made more money on a good weekend night, than her father would make in a month.

So, after about 45 minutes, we rounded up the mostly spent crew and headed back to town.

THE END
