Your insurance should help cover that, did you talk to them?

The repair is covered. A new windshield is below my deductible though.

I snapped a wheel stud because the alignment shop I use overtorqued and cross threaded one of my lugs on my right front wheel.

I'm thrilled....

Guess I'll be buying a cordless impact wrench and a 3-5 lbs hammer. Better buying those tools to use long term than paying a shop to knock out the wheel stud and install a new one. Surprisingly a fairly simple fix, but man, the stock wheel studs are crap it seems. I still think they're okay as long as everything is hand torqued.

Jerry's Wheel and Alignment in Pflugerville.
Good choice in springs! Be sure to post pics afterwards!

Just be sure to tell them to hand torque your lugs or you'll end up in my situation.

Good news, I found a screw extractor kit for the lug nut, and wheel studs can be done by hand with no impact wrench needed. Probably cost me about $15-$20 to do this repair by myself. I don't feel so bad anymore, I'm just upset that air tools fucked up my wheel stud which is why I hate them being used for tightening when they should only really be used for loosening or just SLIGHTLY threading a nut on then hand torquing the rest of the way.

Oh yeah, I made sure to tell them to hand torque mine when I had my Sportlines installed. Stupid Sportlines...I wish I had just gone with my gut and got a Pro Kit from the beginning.

I assume they're paying for replacement parts and refunding the charge for the alignment?

I haven't even approached them about it. I really should. Driving on 4 lugs isn't ideal so I am taking it pretty easy on the car.

My LCA's are still clunking some as well. Trying to figure out where that is occurring. Once I get all these minor issues knocked out, I'll be happy.

It takes a long time, if ever depending on the company, for salaries of existing employees to go up because its taking more money to get new talent. I work in compensation so I know - some companies have a factor applied at annual review time that makes it so if you are less than market for new hires you get a bigger raise but this is actually fairly uncommon. Most people get nothing or just get a 2% "cost of living adjustment" even though cost of living in Austin went up a LOT more than 2% in the last year (for those that do not own their own place at a price locked in the past).

Homes outside of Austin in the surrounding counties are nicely priced though. Austin is probably a 2X markup on the same size house which is insane. I'll happily live in Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Leander or any northern Austin area and still be within driving range. Your home is only going up in value at this rate.
