I have had bad luck with anything over 225 on a 7" rim in the past. R comps you can stuff all the tire you can get on the rim and not worry so much about the bubble. Street tires don't work well when you go too
wide for the wheel for a variety of reasons. The biggest negative side effect I have seen is snoversteer at the limit instead of a pregressive break away that a properly sized street tire should exhibit. If the tires are going on a car that isn't going to be tracked or autocrossed then pop them on there if that's the look you want, but if any sort of high performance driving is in your future, I wouldnt go there. |

yeah that's what I figured, hoosiers have a stiff enough sidewall to not flex. My question was directy related to SCCA stock street tire class.

I think the 235 is absolutely as big as you would want to go on a 7" wheel. If you want to go with the 45 or 55 I hope I'm running against you at national events, lol.

The harsh truth is you have to test both. The new construction of this generation is a huge unknown how much they can be pinched and with even less void area on the shoulders, it's really just a guess. I would try both. I like the gearing of the 245/40 better IMO but its heavier typically and pinched. I'd test both.

i'm torn between these and michelin pss. my big concern is tire life. michelins have a 300 tread wear rating and seem pretty grippy for dd/light track duty/auto x. the price point is about the same.
so, what would be the reason to get these over the PSS? size will be 255/35/18 |

The PSS lasted less long here versus the Z1 because you can not flip the tire. 100 runs vs 160 runs FWIW.

Ordered 235/40/18s from tire rack Wednesday afternoon and they arrived yesterday! Quite the turnaround time. Now if only the weather would get warmer

Anyone have experience autoxing/dding rs3s? I live in ohio and am looking at getting a set mounted on stock rims for this season. I plan on autoxing around 2 to 3 times a month. I'm pretty worried that they would be useless after like 3 months. Would the evos be a better way to go?

They will last fine for that, assuming you aren't doing 3k miles a month. But the Z2 may still be the better choice, assuming it's within your budget.
I wish I could have waited but I needed tires one week to early to get Z2s so I got another set of RS3s.
