Went to my dealership this morning for the new pump install appointment, just to find out the pump isn't there. It's on national back order, 4-6 weeks.

I'm so sick of dealerships! It's like they're magnets for employing idiots and people who give zero fucks about their jobs or their customers. This was the third time I've gone into the dealership regarding this issue at their request (35 minute drive one way plus tolls).

Maybe someday I'll get this new pump.

Sorry to hear that sir but yes it is on major backorder. I just mentioned in a new topic that, according to one of the lead Toyota field techs I talked to today, they are redoing the pump. I work at the dealership in parts so you can trust my info and the field tech I spoke with are credible. He told me the results they got from the latest pump didn't correct the problem (obviously right!!) and they are further redoing the pump. What I don't know is when we will get it and if it will be a completely new number or the same one with a redesigned pump.

Is the supply different for Subaru? Parts for the replacement for my botched pump installation had an ETA of only a couple days.

Dunno how they do it but I'd like to think its all subaru supply. With new toyota categorized numbers on them of course. Their ARE some places that have 1 or 2 in stock but dealers rarely pickup parts from another dealer for warranty issues because the pickup fees are usually 20% over normal cost charged to the department whether its service or parts. We cant charge the customer that additional money so we don't pick them up. Even so there AREN'T many of that pump out there.

Thanks for the info!

UPDATE:
Got a call not 2 days after I was told it's on 4-6 week backorder and they said it just came in from Japan. Making an appointment for next week - hopefully they have everything they need this time.

I voted a few days ago at about 850 miles on the odometer. Then, yesterday (950mi), I cranked the car and it made some weird noises then started fine. When I got to my destination and stopped, I heard the chirping. Great.

Im at 2300 miles and have been getting crickets since 300 ...I notice it only makes noise depending on the fuel I use. If I use BP I dont get crickets but if I use Shell vpower I get them.

UPDATE:

My car is back with Toyota again. They are possibly flying in the Techs to investigate why my fuel pump is still chirping so soon after the new TSB. They will also be checking the part # on the actual fuel pump to make sure I did not receive the wrong one for any reason. They also want pictures of the pump and to investigate it further.

This time I've got a 2014 Corolla LE. Not half bad, definitely smaller but better gas mileage than the Camry. Wish it was the SE though. Can't complain, rental is free.

My wife just got an MDX about a month ago, and I noticed it had crickets too. Apparently the no one knows how to make a HPFP that doesn't chirp

The warranty is for 3 years or 36,000 miles, which ever comes first. Scion Boost (free scheduled maintenance) is for 2 years or 24,000 miles.

If you take a look at your warranty, I think it says that anything that takes longer than a day will get you "transportation assistance." With my dealership that means I drop the car in the morning, and they give me a ride to and from work if it's the same day, or I get a rental if it's going to be more than a day.

Here's the link to the Toyota FAQ:

I went to my dealer for the chirp and they said my car was built out of range for the issue but im still getting it. If im upgrading my fuel pump would that solve the issue?

The aftermarket fuel pumps are the gas tank pumps, not the engine high pressure one. So to answer your question, it won't.

Unless you have a 2015 your car would not be out of range sir. Print the TSB I posted thats now been moved to the TSB list and take it to them. The latest recall goes all the way up to 2014 versions of the car. They must have looked up an old copy to come to that conclusion.
