Two attendants at the local Cruz Thru Express carwash tonight REALLY liked our FR-S.

"That's bad!"
"Is it fast???"
"How much do you love it?"
"It's cool that it doesn't even cost that much."

"What is that thing on the license plate?"

Ive had some people talk to me at lights telling me its a nice car and all that. One time i was waiting to get my burrito at a local mexican stand, i was sitting at the bench on my phone, and a group of kids come up on their bikes to order food too. One of the kids said dam thats a sick car, it's beautiful. I just look at him and say thanks, and he looks at me surprised and says thats your car!? I never got a response like that in the STi haha. He probably thought it was someone elses car because im only 20 and i guess i look fairly young. So as i left I shifted all the way to red line into 2nd just to let the kids hear the trd exhaust.

i've always gotten props and questions about the car. even though its been out close to a year, people still are super curious. i admit here and there i've thought about trading it in for something cheaper and faster like a bullitt mustang or r32, but then coincidence would have someone compliment my car and i would be sold on it again. The fr-s/brz is a niche car, and with that, most people are closed minded when it comes to cars. They want the most horsepower but don't really know anything about handling and dynamics. They don't understand why the fr-s is priced where it is and only has 200 hp. they fail to see the beauty in the engineering of the body, the magical engine placement, the details that went into creating the car.

Lockum license plate lock. I got them because in CA, if someone takes one personalized plate, DMV will let you order a replacement. If they take both plates, you have to order different personalized plates.

Bakersfield is number three on the stolen car list, and someone stole the rear Honda emblem off of my wife's Civic within one week of purchase.

Lockum sells an entire lockable frame (LU-6000 foldable), but the price on those is just too much for me. The locks I bought were $30 for the pair (I only used one lock per plate), vs. $100 for one frame. I'd rather put that towards a Viper alarm and Perrin exhaust.

I get loads of good comments and double takes form my car and it is mostly stock! It helps that there are only 3 twins (2 FR-S and 1 BRZ) in my county and the 2 surrounding counties, so they are definitely a rare sight.

I never get dirty looks or at least I didn't noticed them driving around in LA. I get compliments all the times. People yelling "nice car" and thumb-ups.

One time sitting in traffic on the freeway, a Ferrari 458 Italia rolled up in the adjacent lane, and the passenger in the Ferrari eyed my FR-S and rubber-necking the whole time as it rolled by. My GF and I just laughed at the irony.

Usually I just get looks of 'surprise' when people see an old fart driving it. Shortly after I bought the car I was taking a morning drive when an oncoming Ferrari gave me a thumbs up. I returned the complement.

I get cut off or have people try changing lanes into me on an almost daily basis. Never seen anything like it before. And I drive a red one...it's like it's invisible. I don't get it.

I rode motorcycles exclusively for a few years. Happens all the time on a bike. I read an article (Autoblog) about the latest Campagna T-Rex, and this line reminded me of the FR-S:

"Drive it like a car, but act like you are on a motorcycle," were the words of wisdom bestowed upon me before the keys were handed over, and the advice couldn't have been more accurate.

Our car is small and low to the ground, so it pays to drive as if people can't see you.

I assume that's why. Can't be the color (red), and you can kind of hear it (Perrin catback) although it's not crazy loud. I've never had to dodge so many dummies before.
