found the holy grail(s)...16" rally tyres

16" rally tyres.... mmmmm, very happy, first proper test is on Sunday
(and yes, they sound like an old world war 2 air raid siren on bitumen, they scream!)

Very cool, nice that there's a lot of space between the treadblocks. Reminiscent of Cooper Discoverer ATRs, but on a smaller scale

My bet is they'll be way better grip wise then eg. winter tires used for such purpose, but grip may fall off with threadblock edges wearing down in subsequent races, even if there will still be lot of "thread depth" left.

I agree, the tread block "edges" are the primary factor in ultimate loose grip.

Overall tread depth can still help even when edges are less than ideal, but the tyre is not performing at its peak.
