Fellow Montrealer here too, if it is within your means I would highly suggest shipping to Freeport Forwarding down in Champlain, NY. Check out their website. You will save a ton in shipping, and if you are lucky or you are happening to stay down in the US for 48 hours you will save on both taxes and duties! I usually make big orders tot he border and then plan a mini trip down to the US for the weekend to pick up the stuff. Good luck!

would it end up costing more to rent a dodge caravan, gas and other fees to pickup stuff at the border instead?

of course if we already have van and order tons of stuff, it can save alot.
