I routed my footwell lighting to the dome harness. I would think its the same method for this since my footwell act as curtesy lighting. when i unlock the car they turn on, also happens when i open the doors. Lock the car and they dim until they're off its awesome.

Here is my contribution. I tapped the dome light and then fished the wire through the wire loom in the door (kind of a pain in the ass). The courtesy lights function the same way as the dome. The lights are bright as hell.

Does anyone have good guide on how to get this done. I have a FRS that does not come with Door Courtesy lights.

Thanks

I tapped the dome light circuit and used a solid state power relay from digikey. If you've replaced the dome light with led boards, or have a floorlight kit its easy enough. install relay (solid state) inline with the dome circuit, and fused power on the other side.

This is a pretty good how-to for wiring power to the door, can be also used for courtesy light install.

I used this video as a reference to tap the wires for an OEM feel and look. I found some courtesy lights on eBay that use the same connector as the BRZ limited connector so that I can continue to keep the OEM look and finally installed my courtesy lights a few weekends ago.

Looks awesome, love the OEM look. Curious did you replace the red plastic with clear ones?

Thank you @highway7. Yes, I replaced the red plastic with clear ones from eBay. Honestly, I was only after the connector b/c I previously purchased the Subaru clear courtesy lamps. However, the eBay kit came with LEDs for $24.90 shipped and I liked the look after I installed them. I'm going to run this pair for a couple of months and if they die I can just popped them off and replace with the Subaru lamps. Link for the item I bought is below.

I highly recommend following his suggestion of having a proper fishing tape and using silicone spray. It took me 45 minutes on the driver side using a make shift fishing tape; passenger side took 5 mins to fish the wires and wire everything up with proper fishing tape and silicone spray.

I’d like to add to this, I also found what you’ve found in the Frs manual, but I’d like to add that I looked into the the BRZ manual, the FDCY, and FPCY are the same, and in the same locations, but since the BRZ comes with the Courtesy lights, it has extra wiring, can be seen on page 184 of the BRZ manual.

The problem that I’m facing now, is that I can’t figure out what the B in the circle stands for, and I can’t seem to locate in the manual where the FLCL, and FRCL pin in.

I believe I found the locations for FLCL, and FRCL. I believe it’s on the 5, 6 pin on connector 3A on the main body ECU.

Another update, had plenty of time to look it over and I believe I’ve figured it out, I have yet to go physically search in my FRS for where I believe I’ll have to add wires for an OEM hook up.

I’m a bit of a procrastinator, so maybe someone with drive would like the information, anyways, go to page 184. So for the driver side I’d locate connector ED2 and check pin 9 and see if there’s a wire ran from it and the main body ECU D5 pin 5. Then for the left side do pretty much the same thing, but it’ll be from connector FD2 pin 8 to main body ECU D5 pin 6. If those are good, my guess would be that from the connectors to the actual courtesy lights will need wires ran.

For ED1 pin 1 and FD1 pin 1 see if there’s a wired ran back to a splice somewhere. (couldn’t locate it in the diagrams) If that’s good, I’d assume wires will need to be ran from both connectors to the courtesy lights.

I’ll eventually get around to trying this, but hoping someone beats me to it.
