There are a few different programs out there. I use Autodesk Flowdesign. And trust me, none of them are cheap kid.

you spent $210 per year on an unnecessary software for your street car to prove that your $10 ebay canards worked?

I mean forza costs a fraction of that and you could have learned that beefier tires = more grip.

This thread is glorious.

I always thought a widebody with visible bolts/holes/not flush with rest of body looks cheap af.. plus you have to widen your wheelbase and that would mean you don't care about how the car drives which would mean you spend money on a car that does only one thing well... drive. But then went ahead and fucked that up about it... good job bud I hope your proud.

Same thing as adding a supercharger/turbo.. You just went ahead and fuckedup the only reason why you would want this car.. ricericericericerice

Bull. If no one used wind tunnels, why is Windshear booked for months? Honda, an OEM las I checked, just invested $124million in a new tunnel.

Again, bull. We use a much more expensive suite of software, and are always working to make it more accurate. Part of that is correlating the CFD to the wind tunnel data.

At $210, per Autodesk, a year, that is CHEAP! The electric bill for the cooling system, for our CFD cluster, is bigger than that

Yep. Wind tunnel testing, clay modeling, and a lot of other things people think would be antiquated are still alive and well in the auto industry.

I'm not familiar with the autodesk program but if it is anything like inventor, it is probably complete garbage. The last one I used was the solidworks add on. I forget the name of it but it was capable of being run on a top of the line desktop computer costing several grand. You're probably looking at a minimum of 20 grand to get the computer and one of the usual software packages. Maybe even more. I used it for free through the college. Some can use it through work. I'm guessing this is what he did.

In F1 a team tried using all CFD for building their cars and it was a total failure. I can't recall which team it was because that team is gone now. CFD is not 100% accurate- not by a long shot, the wind tunnel is still alive and well.

4 full scale within 30 minutes of me, including one that I didn't see on that list.
