First Mods?

Hi - sorry if I've posted in the wrong place… I'm pretty new here. I bought my BRZ in February and I LOVE IT. So far, I've ordered the Grimmspeed plate relocator. Any ideas on exterior mods that I should consider next? What looks cool that I can do relatively reasonably? Mostly thinking about appearance right now, not so much performance. I already love how this car drives. I just want to do some things to make it a bit more unique.

I'm in Hillsboro OR in case anyone knows reliable shops in the area too.

You can do anything you want, a lot of guys will start with a new set of rims, some will get a muffler first, others will put on a bodykit, or a spoiler. Its all personal preference.

A good idea would be Opticoat and/or 3M Clearbra to keep the paint in tip top condition, especially with rocks and junk. A good wax and detail will go a long way. After that, maybe a set of rims, or lowering springs?

Fender garnishes, diffuser, lip are other options as well.

Maybe even that carbon fibre engine cover too.

I think it's safe to go by these guidelines:

- Don't settle for cheaper options if quality is what you want.
- Don't buy things just because you can (because those things are usually tacky)
- Have a goal in mind. Some people have no goals and go too far; turning their car into something they no longer enjoy or like.

Contact @Diode Dynamics and put LEDs in all the things. It may not be exactly unique, but it does look much better.

I went for cheap, functional mods first. It's amazing what an improvement a handful of <$50 parts can make.

Not a ft86 thread without that one person who tells people to search.

Get a build strategy goin. a clean well modded car doesn't necessary need to be a brand whore. Get some clean build ideas online and follow it. no need to reinvent the wheel. a basic theme and flow is everything. there are many cringy 86s out there.

Mine was clean, trackable, but still looks good at car meets.

If you are too busy fending off other peoples "hate" your probably doing it wrong imo

Example of a car with too many goodies and no design direction:

Then one with a simple and clean design direction:
