Looking back at when I was talking to a Subaru rep a few months before they went on sale "oh get the BRZ! it'll be super rare compared to the FRS by at least 8 to 1!" its more like 2.2 to 1 and its interesting to see how all the hear-say unfolded. not to mention that the Toyota sales guy mentioned right before I drove off the lot "in about 3 months you can go to a Subaru dealership and they'll slap a turbo on it for you for 2 grand" .....

Does anyone know the breakdown by color and transmission? How many were sold with M/T vs A/T and how many of each color were sold?

That really isn't that large a number. There were 2,400 Porsches sold in November (all types) as an example.

Here's the Top 20 from November to put it in prospective.

Sure, but that includes the Cayenne, and I see those things running around all over the place

Know what I don't see running around all over the place by me? Ford F-series trucks, the #1 seller in the country.

Know where I can find a ton of those? Texas.

A lot of what you see locally is reflective of buying habits and driving needs in your area. So by default, SoCal is populated by Camry/Accord/Civic/Corolla. Those 4 cars make up in excess 60% of the vehicles in my area.

Those are all type of consumer cars list. Obviously, the twin can't compare to mustang, camry, corolla, & civic sales. Those are in hundred thousand cars a year. I don't think car enthusiast want to see the twin belong in that group . Compare the Twin to other import car like the civic si coupe, 370z ... etc; twin is doing great.

True. In some cities in SoCal, you'll see a Porsche at just about every stop light. Elsewhere, even in CA, they're still a novelty.

I've got mixed feelings about low/high volume sales. I also have a Mustang in the family and I can buy just about any part for it aftermarket, with better quality. For example, I just bought two billet levers for the back seats for $25 for a pair. The plastic piece of OEM crap for the seats costs $60 EACH, and break about every 6 months or so under normal use. We had them replaced 3 times under warranty.

I'm not a big exclusivity person, I feel the more the merrier and the cheaper the accessories.

Or you know, 100 miles North to the one of the largest agricultural industries in the world...

1,029 Scion FR-S were sold in December of 2013.

The total for 2013 is 18,327 units.

That is way better then the first full year of sales for the 370Z in 2009 with 13,117 units. And slightly higher than the MX-5 Miata in 2006 with 16,897 units.

I'm really happy with those numbers! Kinda makes me smirk and giggle compare to the 370z.

Considering how well they are selling, I think we'll see a large jump in BRZ production. But the GT86/FR-S will always outsell the BRZ due to Toyota being a sheer juggernaut in auto sales.

Being a Subaru fan, I'm ok with this since every car that comes from the Gunma plant means more $$ in Subaru's coffers.
I think its a incredibly smart plan they did it this way. I agree the FR-S would have still likely outsold the BRZ if they were produced 1:1. By the looks of it , both companies are seeing great success with this venture.

I too am ok with the BRZ being more rare.
