The bike in my previous post is a 17" frame with 29" tires. So yes it will fit. The handle has to be vertical behind the drivers seat, and the drivetrain facing up.

I have a simple refined solution for a rack that will hold one bike using Yakima mounts. I built it back in January and have been using it since with no issues. Total cost plus machining was around $200. I have seen other do something similar, but the variation I'm using is so basic. Uses the tow hook ports and two pieces of 1 1/8" aircraft grade aluminum machined down to a specific profile. You can use any Yakima rack as their bars are the same diameter. If you use the Boa it can be taken off with ease. Locks added to mount essentially lock the bike to the car as you can not unscrew mount with bike attached. It solved my issues with the trunk thing. Road bike and 29r MTB fit without wheels. Tri bike was really pushing limits due to aero bars. I refuse to put a roof rack or a hitch on the car. The whole suction cup thing is crazy IMO. Can post pics if anyone is interested in seeing how its done.

Ive fit my XL road bike in the back with the front wheel removed. I am interested in a roof mount bike rack if anyone has seen one yet. Im not sure its possible on our cars though.

Yakima has clips out now for their Q Towers. Be advised the silicone pads leave smudges on the paint. Need a clay bar to remove them as the deposit over time.

Is it just me, or does that bike look ENORMOUS on the back of the little 86? I presume it does offer some rear end protection, though.

The bike looks almost as big as the car! He/she must be a tall guy/girl.

I had large Epic 29er and it fit with the front wheel off. Haven't tried my Stumpy yet.

bike inside a bra

Just got my BRZ last week. I put in my santacruz tall boy carbon 29 size is extra large, inside with the front wheel off. Need to slide the passenger seat all the way forward and leave it there for the duration. Need to tilt the drivers seat for insertion. I do have a dropper seatpost and I do keep that all the way down. Put the whole back of the bike in a black garbage bag. The front wheel gets its own garbage bag. Stays reasonably clean. I did remove the passenger seat for a weekend trip so i could put a cooler and more gear in there.
