New proposed tariffs for imported vehicles AND automotive parts

http://www.semasan.com/page.asp?cont...8FED3&g=SEMAGA

If you don't care, don't whine when everything you love about this platform is 25% more expensive for "national security" reasons.

it won't be higher, this will give companies a reason to make stuff in the USA. That will make us all better off as auto enthusiasts.

So tell me how is Subaru or Toyota is going to manufacture this car in the US? The proposed tariffs is for vehicles as well as parts.

thanks for sharing. i hope everyone leaves a comment. these stupid trade wars with our long time allies do nothing but harm U.S. citizens and companies that rely on those imports.

Well here in Canada for small items usually if you order from Subaru it's cheaper but Made in Japan. It's a little more expensive at Toyota but usually Made in USA.

Just price them out at both parts counter if worse comes to worst.

I buy my parts from Subaru and Japanparts.

then you are going to be limited to the brz and some of the larger SUV's. Pretty much everything else is already made in the USA. Most Toyotas, Hondas, Subarus, Nissans, and soon to be Mazdas are made in the US or Mexico. There are a few that actually come from Japan, but the twins are the reason why they are trying to make it none. If they could have priced it starting $5k lower, it would be a home run for everyone.

Subaru makes engines in the USA. Toyota does too. Hell the Japanese have been expecting this for decades. The twins were hurt significantly because the Japanese Yen jumped in value at just the wrong time, leading them to be forced to price the car higher than they wanted to. It wouldn't take much for them to switch production to the USA if they really wanted to.

Or Canada. There are 250,000 Rav 4s built a year about 2 blocks away from where I sit right now and if you travel an hour down the road you can be at the plant that has made many of the Corolla sedans sold in the US since 1988. They also build the Lexus RX350 and 450.
