Pacific Raceways' Gymkhana Drift - BRZ / FRS Event #1 (10.20.2012)

Ello all :

So we've talked about it, and now's the time to have some fun! Since this is the first inaugural event (of three), I don't need to have a 'minimum' number of drivers as we're still feeling out the course(s). Turns out there's quite a few of you here who are interested in this so I'm going to make this primarily a BRZ / FRS event. I'll of course invite a few of our RWD colleagues to partake in the fun as well. If you know of anyone else interested, forward them this link but I'm not planning to have more than 20 people this weekend.

NOTE that this is an ENTRY LEVEL / NOVICE event designed for one who wants to learn to drift and or learn the limits of your vehicle.
It will be as some of you guys say, "chill." It is however, not a "DONUT" course. Here's the reader's digest version ~

Date :
Saturday, 20th Oct 2012
Venue : Pacific Raceways Parking Lot
Time : 10:00AM - 5:00PM (DRIVER'S MEET @ 10AM SHARP)

DRIVERS : IF YOU'RE NOT THERE @ THE 10AM
MEETING, YOU'RE NOT DRIVING!

*Red X is ingress, Blue X is egress.

Price :

Drivers :
$50.00 via Paypal to virtual_bob at hotmail dot com (registration closes 18th Oct Midnight.) When paying, make sure you include your full name and not your screen name.
Spectators :
$5.00 at the door - that means anyone else coming thru the gates!

>>>
Everyone will have to sign waivers. <<<

Basics ~

Pre-Requisite :
None. No experience necessary!

Tech Inspection :
All vehicles that will be on the course will go through a standard tech inspection. Additionally, should there be any leaks at any given time during the event, the vehicle will be turned back to the pits and have such said leaks addressed. Vehicles with leaks shall stay OFF the track until which time they don't leak anymore - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Safety :
All attending drivers will be required to wear a helmet! Seat belts must be in good working condition!

ETIQUETTE ~

1) SPINS :
If you spin out twice per run, do not attempt to finish the run and proceed to your next staging area.

2) MOVEMENT AREA :
While traveling from the pits to the staging area and vice versa, note that there's an enforced 5 MPH speed limit. That limit is strictly enforced and if violated, you will be pulled off the track and sent packing. Additionally, please DO NOT try to drift in the pits in an attempt to cool your motor down...

DETAILS ~

Gates open @ 9AM for drivers to get in and once in, please park and stage @ "Da Pitts" and await further instructions. I will continually update this page to address any other questions you guys might have. That said, WHO'S IN?!

Regards!

I hope so, there won't be many opportunities like this ~ < 20 people on the course all day, endless runs and mostly BRZ / FRSs... I can't guarantee the next one will be like this either.

I can imagine worse ways to spend a Saturday. I'll register.

40% chance of rain which, in PacNW lingo, translates to 100% chance of rain for 40% of the day.

Bring your rain gear/umbrellas etc.

edit: Money sent.

Sure you don't want to drive the MR2 either? And it may rain.

Bob
MR2 needs new axle seals. Doesn't quite meet the no leaks requirement... otherwise I'd be all over that.

I think I might have snagged Eric to come out and take pictures as well. Perhaps we'll all end up on My Life At Speed.

Just a quick newbie question. As you mentioned before another set of tires were recommended. Does that mean i need another set of tires + wheels? Or just tires?

Urm. You can make do with what you have, and I recommend that you bring another set for more track time or to use as a "drive homes". That said, a set being wheel and tire, already mounted and ready for use as there are no tire facilities at the track as of yet.

This would also be a good opportunity to see what your traction controls do exactly.
