Jumping ship from FR-S to BRZ

Hey guys,

I have pre-ordered an FR-S in Calgary, I think I am at the 6th spot at the dealership. After the recent announcement of BRZ price, I think it would make sense for me to jump ship. To me, the headlights on both the BRZ and FR-S look great.

What do you guys think?

Also, anyone from Calgary?

Thank you!

Considered doing the same thing. Went to one of the largest Subaru dealership in BC and was told they're not going to sell at MSRP, they're only getting 3 (once a month starting May), all 3 already spoken for, and they're no longer accepting pre-orders until further notice.
If you can find a dealership that'll accept pre-orders for summer delivery, put a deposit down but don't withdraw the FRS deposit. Goodluck!

I would phone around and try to find a dealership that you want to work with. As the above poster said I wouldn't give up your line for the FR-S yet though unless you're certain you want to upgrade to the BRZ. Might be a rude awakening if you find you're not able to get a vehicle after you give up your place in line.

I've sent out emails to subaru dealers in calgary, hopefully they will reply me soon.

I love the car, based on the reviews and pictures. But I would be mad paying for the FR-S as I know I would get so much more for just ~$2K at Subaru.

I think the LED, Sat Nav, etc, would add alot to the resell value too.

I think the badge as much as anything else will help the resale value

To me the price difference between the FR-S and the BRZ is more than worth it. The navigation and headlights alone are a no-brainer for me. I'm getting the Sport-Tech pkg anyways but even base to base the BRZ is the way to go.

Agreed. If i were planning to gut everything out to race or just wanted a no frills fun car the frs serves that purpose too

Hey guys, I have just got a quote from a Subaru dealership in Calgary, on top of the MSRP, there are these charges:

Frieght & PDI: $1,595.00
Locking Wheel Nuts: $ 60.00
Block Heater: $395.00 (Est.)
A/C Levy: $100.00
Enviornment Levy: $28.25
Sound shield, Security Etch & Nitrogen: $895.00
AMVIC Fee: $6.25

+ GST.

Does that sound reasonable? What's the Sound shield, Security Etch & Nitrogen fee???

Thanks!

Are the tires nitrogen Filled?...Sound shield?..extra sound proofing bs maybe? Security etch must be something related to the VIN and IF it ever gets stolen.

i'm guessing the Enviroment levy has the tire tax tacked in it?

Get them to throw in the lock nuts for free or something...

I've just got another quote from another Subaru dealership in calgary:

2013 BRZ Sport-Tech AT:
MSRP: $30,495.00
Freight/PDI: $1,595.00
A/C, Alberta Tire & AMVIC Levies: $126.25
Admin Charges: $395.00 (includes 36month Tire Road Hazard
Warranty)

Sub-Total: $32,611.25
GST: $1,630.56

Total: $34,241.81

Hmm...it is less than what I have posted earlier from another dealer.

Lol wtf? sound shield, security etching and nitrogen in the tires? The way they classified those fees makes it easy for you to opt out. Just say you don't want that shit.

My god... these subie dealers are crapping all over corporate's generosity.
