Good to know...Don't know if this car is 1.99%APR or regular.

I got my Matrix 0% for 60 months from Toyota.

I think it might be misleading to say no to dealer options. Most of the time the Toyota/Scion Financial Services option will not be the best. However, dealers are not forced to use them.

My dealer found me a loan with 2% lower APR than the cheapest rate I could found myself through a bank the dealer had partnerships with.

Some dealers work exclusively with TFS, others actually try to find you a good deal through partnering banks.

I'd pay a lot more than $250 if it meant I wasn't stuck with a lame ass automatic FRS.

Oh...nonono...the dealer I went today has an automatic in the lot...he offered me that and it is available now. Futhermore, he told me if I want a manual I could put down a deposit, and he can reserve one for me. However, it won't be here for another month (It would be 30760 as listed on Scion website.)

The issue is that I had put down $500 for one several month ago in another dealership and now they add the mark up (they would not say it is a mark up but additional fee or it is their dealer pricing for this car.) Kind of like your choice...come get your money back or pay for that an extra $250. Yes, it is not a big money but it is still my hard earn money. you know!

And Thanks for Texas FRS and other advises, I will go talk to them this Sat. and see if they would back down or else take my check back and putting in a new reservation from the dealer that honor the base MSRP.

How could they? The rates are set by the company. The dealer can't just change them. But there are special rates here and there... 2014 BRZs can get 0.9% from Subaru.

I assume you are asking how dealers can change the interest rate.

TFS has set rates, but the dealerships don't have to use TFS. When I bought my FRS, the dealership kept saying they couldn't match the rate I could get through the credit union. I explained that they either match the rate or get nothing from me in the way of interest, so they matched it through Wells Fargo.

I get that. They don't have the power to CHANGE the interest rate; only to change banks/financing institutions that have different rates. But frankly at that point, there's probably not a huge benefit to them to do the legwork to find another bank for you to beat your already low rate.

Both of you have good points and I'd have to agree with @Racer-X in that the finance manager has the option to match or beat the 3rd party bank... If not, then it's no worries and the client can stay with his / her own financing which has or can be lined up. At the end, it's a Win / Win situation for you (the customer).

As said earlier in this thread the Dealer CAN set the rat to what ever they want The Manufactures SUGGESTED Retail Price is exactly that ...SUGGESTED. The Scion pure pricing means the dealer has to keep what ever price they have on a car the same (no $25000 internet nut $28000 on lot for same unit)

OOOPS QUOTED WRONG POST! Gonna leave it there anyway sorry Deeez not talking about financing and you are correct

OP I don't know that I would risk losing the MT car for the sake of $250 but you do have some leverage on the Dealer. After every Scion sale you will receive a survey from Scion (the company not the dealer) I don't know how these surveys hit the dealers financially but they are scared to death of them! Make sure when talking to the dealer you mention that you are aware of the survey and an extra $250 will mean the difference between a good score and a bad score. Now of course do go in yelling and screaming about it but make sure it comes up in your conversation!!!!!!

This may seem a silly question but going to ask it anyway:
Don't they all have leather (or at least leather "like") sides and backs on the front seats?
Have only seen inside 4 and can't say I really looked for it.

I don't think there's any leather on the seats. I'm supposed to get mine today or tomorrow.
