Does the car shut off in a distance without the fob?

Yes, without the key inside the car, it will shut off at some distance, dont remember what it is but it's in the manual i believe.

I'm curious an answer to this as well... if someone can point out what page in the manual that would be great.

Not an 86, but a guy I work with drove his keyless car all the way to work (~20 miles) and then realized he left his keys in the kitchen (was warming up his car and went inside). Pretty funny.. so hopefully our cars shut off or something? I know we have that flashing light on the dash saying no key detected..

No, it does not. Could you imagine driving the car and it suddenly shutting off like a Chevy Cobalt? Car will drive like normal until you shut it off, it won't start without FOB.

I know people at security conferences have talked about the weak security of these immobilizer systems and CAN in general but I don't think it's figured out to the point thieves have the technology yet.

People stealing these cars are targeting them, putting them on dollies, and winching them up onto a flatbed.
