I just got my first oil change analysis back from Blackstone.

Same as everyone else, high wear and silicon.

I did an easy 1K break in with varying RPM on the highway.

After 1K I drove the car relatively hard. This oil also has 50+ autox runs.

They did suggest to run the next oil change out 10k miles.

I have my free oil changes, so I will probably do 7,500 miles.

10,000 miles based on one uoa of the factory fill? Sometimes I really wonder about their comments. Did you not fill the bottle completely? Nice to see someone really pushing the factory fill instead of, "ZoMg! I need to change the oil at 50, 100, 500, 1,000, and 3,000 to get the metal bits out!".

I had the dealership fill the bottle when they did my free oil change.

The TBN was still good so I think that's what they were referring to.

I wouldn't be surprised if we could go longer than 10k for subsequent changes

So I guess it goes to show that there's nothing to fear with Mobil 1?

I've been using it in most of my cars, and i can easily acquire 0w-20 at my local auto parts.

I've always had great results with Mobil 1. It wasn't till I got here that I saw negative reviews of it. Glad to see you're getting good results with it.

@yomny your UOA has been the best one I have seen for this engine yet. You didn't have much oil shearing compared to nearly everyone else. What kind of driving do you typically do (highway/city percentage)?

Most defintely. After one more oil change, and a uoa showing your break-in metals settling down, I would just go to 7,500 mile intervals.

Your residual moly levels from the factory fill assembly lube and factory fill will drop, but I believe ExxonMobil uses the new trinuclear moly.
Infineum Moly additive technology pdf.
Similar friction modification and anti-wear with lower moly levels.

I did a frist oil change at 150 miles, so that could be a good reason why. I drive the car a 50/50 between highway and city, plus i drive me car hard, not abusively but like a sports car.

This thread reminded me that you guys doing uoa's will really need to keep an eye on fuel and flashpoint. As I mentioned in the other thread, BS does not actually test for fuel dilution but they extrapolate the number from the flashpoint reading.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=968027

Interesting to see that Blackstone is recommending that the above interval be extended when the flashpoint has dropped to 375. Short trips will increase fuel, as will not taking the uoa sample on a hot engine or a couple of WOT runs before the sample.

I would still be a bit cautious about following Blackstone's advice. I've pointed out errors in their uoa's before. Two cases were uoa's of Rotella T6 that came back with weaker zinc and phosphorus levels than a typical GF-5 5W-30, which is not possible.
