I do agree. I'm asked all the time, "Is it fast?" I always answer, "Nope! But it's a blast to drive!"

I, too, am a big fan of the "boxter" engine.

CS liked the car. Based on data from owners, they said it wasn't reliable enough for them to recommend it.
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/scion/fr-s.htm Jointly developed with Subaru, the rear-wheel-drive FR-S features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder teamed with a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Its low curb weight and optimal weight distribution give it super-agile handling and balance at its limits. In corners the car turns in promptly with virtually no body lean. The steering is well weighted, with decent feedback, and the Scion has a slightly more compliant ride than the BRZ. Inside, the cabin is relatively plain, with well-bolstered sport seats, but the stiff ride and elevated noise can be taxing, and the vestigial rear seats are best left for cargo. We cannot recommend the FR-S due to below average reliability. |

I paid what the 'Mericans pay for a base and got a Limited wagon! However it was a 2011,with 55000 km on it. Still a great find in top condition and with low miles. That is my winter "beater". Now if only the FR-S had the same power (mine is Cobb stg1).

This is the same with many marques unfortunately. Gotta look into importation laws if you're serious about getting a particular car sometimes... of course, taking into account the current FX, but it's possible. I've had a few imported cars and am looking at my next hunt from somewhere other than Canada

I don't see how the GTI is on their either. A base with DSG is like $27,500.

But it is a fun fact that they are lowering the price over here to be reasonable considering exchange rates. The lawsuits may have helped..,. http://www.ucanimport.com/lawsuit.aspx and that's just one example, there are similar lawsuits in other provinces. |

Interesting, didn't know about lawsuits.
WRX should be available now - or in the next few days - "available March 2014" |
