Brake Alignment Reported Off

Yes, they did the full service and this re-alignment were cost free and covered under the regular Scion Service (that comes without any additional cost), so everything was free of charge. I don't think they were jerking me around, probably just unfamiliar with the car itself compared to the usual sedans/SUVs they service. Thanks for the suggestions all, as at this point sounds like nothing to worry about.

No, it's not at all. A parking brake adjustment is very common place on practically the whole line of Toyotas as they tend to favor the parking brake inside the rear rotor design. They may have misspoke as brake alignment sounds ridiculous, but they just performed a standard parking brake adjustment.

Usually wouldn't the tension on the cable have to change for that to happen or the friction material on the parking brake shoes have to wear down? In a brand new car it doesn't seem like either would apply.

Usually over time, yes, those are usually why the parking brake goes out of adjustment. So my guess would be the vehicle was possibly driven while the parking brake was engaged or it was delivered out of spec. It happens, we'll occassionally see vehicles in for a service early in their life that need an adjustment.

I'm new to the forum and just saw this thread. Both myself and a friend replaced our OEM brakes recently, one at 3k and the other at 1.5k. Both had uneven wear on the stock brake pads, and I mean dramatic. On the car that had done 3k half the pad had worn away at 1 end whilst the other had plenty of life left.

IMO it looks like a design flaw given the issue was visible on both vehicles which were delivered 4 weeks apart.

Suggest you keep an eye on them just to be safe.

Sounds like stuck pistons on the calipers, these are dual piston fronts.

To the OP. It's easy for an e-brake to be out of alignment - it's not a huge issue but will destroy one set of your pads faster than the other side. It's not the use of your e-brake that is doing anything what is happening is your e-brake is constantly putting tension on the calliper thus engaging the calliper on to the rotor while you are driving. That is where the wear is coming from. This is a common issue amongst all disc brake cars so don't be too concerned.
