CEL - P0016 - Quick Question
So I now have the pain in the butt P0016 code.
Long story short: August - Car was stock, got P0018, Dealer replaced the Cam gear and ECU September - All's good and a EB Supercharger goes on the car, drive for 500ish miles, and I get a P0016 code. I've done some looking and I'm hoping since the ECU and Cam gear was replaced already, that I don't have to do it again... : I swapped oil/ ran some detergent through the car : Cleaned the sensor : I swapped sensors to see if the code followed, it didn't Other items of note: I am being tuned via ECUTEK I'm running 5W30 Synthetic Short of the exhaust and supercharger the car is mechanically stock. I guess my question for those who have dealt with the issue before is where do I go next in my testing? Is it possible to "Tune" out the code all together? I imagine taking it to the dealer with the supercharger isn't an option... Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks. |

Why did you switch to 5w30? It's not the recommended weight and can cause all kinds of issues

Don't bother with the sensor. Swap the solenoids. The manual calls them oil control valves but they aren't actually the valves.
Look in my sig line for the service manual. It's not the ECU.

Thanks for the reply Maroon, I reviewed the doc. I wasn't clear I did switch the oil control valves. Not just the sensors. |

If you have techstream you can manually slew each of the camshafts in both directions to test.

I support @Ultramaroon in this idea.
This may be pure coincidence, but the time I had P0016 was after I switched to 5W30 oil. I wanted to compare oil temps and pressures (btw, not worth it if you have oil cooler, 0W20 gets the job done). Something to think about maybe. |

What is the part # for the replacement ECU for a BRZ?Are there any other items needed along with this? for the record this is a 2013 limited 6 speed. Do I replace with a newer ECU?
