I think you could "tool" some veg tanned leather into a logo and just glue it over the scion logo with some contact cement, it wouldn't do any harm if it came off and smacked you in the face. Just have to decide what sort of logo to go with (toyota, 86, boxer emblem), given the shape we are stuck with, then the real challenge is to make the tool to put the impression in the leather.

This in leather would be awesome.

If you put a Subaru emblem on there and then deploy the airbag you'll be seeing stars!

Thanks for the DIY if I ever want to swap out the wheel.

I also pulled my airbag and had an issue at first... It is because there is a third clip on the bottom of the airbag. There is a hole that looks just like the ones on the side, and you just push the rod towards the middle of the steering wheel, just like you do through the holes on the sides.
Also... The fuses, all three, are for the horn according to the diagram on the back of the fuse box cover. None of them are for the airbag. With that said, i dont think it would matter much. People pound and lean on their horns in road rage, that's not what would set them off. Unless you short a wire or something, you should be fine. I would be more focused on making sure you support the airbag as you release it and pull it out so you dont damage the wires/connectors in the back.
To the OP: THANK YOU for the write-up, helped alot in wrapping the trim piece underneath the airbag :-D

just looked in the owner's manual... fuse 47, the blue 15amp fuse all by itself in the top left corner of the pic in the OP, That is the main Air-bag fuse... just a FYI.

I only recommend removing all said fuses for safety and the more than likely occurrence of accidentally unwanted honking of the horn.

@Synack: Regarding the picture below and instructions to "push that pin inwards of the steering wheel, while simultaneously pulling the airbag. Do this to each pin on both sides and pull the airbag out, it is semi-difficult."

Is that saying one side can be pulled at a time or do both sides need to be pulled while simultaneously pushing the pins on both sides? Also "it will open the hole above to allow the release of the airbag." What is meant by "open the hole"... am I supposed to be doing something with the top holes? I thought I'm supposed to be pulling on the airbag while pushing the pin in the lower holes.

Lastly, when reinstalling the steering wheel, is recalibration of the steering position necessary? That's what a Subaru service rep told me but I'm not sure if that would be true for this car since it looks like the wheel bolts into a set place with no room for play/adjustment.

If you disconnect the battery ..... wouldn't that just shut everything down?

Did anyone happen to snap a picture of the back of the airbag cover without the airbag in place?
