Oh cool a thread for PNW track rats!

Set my PB at Ridge Motorsports Park a couple of weeks ago. Went with a Vancouver based organizer that day.

I see there's chatter about Area 27 as well. There's another Vancouver based organizer hosting an event on August 24th. Highly unlikely I am able to go though.

Here's a video from my first time at Area 27 last year:

Area 27 is fun but not as "flowy" as Ridge so really hurts low powered cars

Nice time. How do you like the NT01s vs something like an RE71R? I've heard peak grip isn't as high on the Nittos but they last a heck of a lot longer.

Edit: I wish I had the balls to enter T1 at 100+ mph.

What you heard is exactly what my experience is with NT01 vs RE-71R. Very narrow window of peak grip compared to the NT01 and then it just falls off dramatically due to being heat cycled. On my 3rd set of NT01s since 2015, safe to say they're my favorite track tire.

The RE71R is an autocross tire that we use for lapping. I ran them for a season, then realized I don’t have the budget to support that habit. Hence I’m running SX2. I’ll probably go back to NT01 if the cheap SX2 deals don’t come back soon. Or take off Hoosier R7 from usedracingtires.com. At $100 each delivered - $75 each if you buy 16 - the used Hoosiers are a good deal. Not as much wear as the NT01, nor the heat cycles, but a lot cheaper.

I'll be getting my own boosty juice soon though. Just not in the BRZ--that's going up for sale soon. Getting a 19 Golf R since I'm not planning to track for a little while anyways

What was the catalyst? I'm surprised to hear that you're going for a Golf R. I mean, I know it's an amazing car (and a heck of a sleeper at that!) but it's definitely a different beast.

GF and I had been talking about getting a practical third car (as we can't do much with a BRZ and C7). But considering I'm taking a break from tracking, I decided my car was just too loud and uncivilized to be a pure daily driver. So instead of getting a boring third car, I'm selling the BRZ for a nice practical/fun car.

That being said, I'm already doing research on tracking the GR...

I was planning to but now I have to roof two large duplexes that weekend.

This tracking season has turned out like crap for me

I am going to try to make a 3 Day'r out of the IRDC weekend at the Ridge. We will see though.

I'll pack the fridge in the RV with extra drinks. IRDC usually does a big bbq/food/drink thing on Saturday night that's worth staying for. I recommend booking a room at the casino though. I've stayed in some of the hotels in town in shelton and after staying in the casino the few dollars more per night is totally worth it! Bring your lady, make an event out of it!

Great looking lines at The Ridge. How was your car balance in Turn 6 compared through T4-T5? Did you have to manage understeer or over steer as you dropped down into T4?

Thank you!

Car feels neutral through T6, maybe a bit on the oversteer side which is my preference. Don't really feel any understeer or oversteer through T4 even with the foot the floor but when tires are getting hotter, they're a bit on the twitchy side
